Cw: A bit of social anxiety, sensory overload
"This'll be so fun! I haven't been shopping in ages." Uraraka said as the cluster of students began to disperse. Mina had planned a massive day trip to the beach and ordered everyone to help her shop for the essentials. Summer was rolling in and so the idea had been welcomed.
"Meet back here in two hours." Aizawa grunted. He'd come to supervise and make sure nobody went on a spending spree but he didn't seem particularly interested in Mina's idea.
Begrudgingly, Shoto stepped away from the teacher. He despised long shopping trips. Whenever he needed to get something, he'd pop in, grab what he needed and leave as soon as possible. The whole time he'd feel like other customers were judging him for what he was buying and he hated how hot and loud they could be.
Izuku waved him over. Him, Iida, Tsu and Uraraka planned on walking round together. Iida had a list prepared but Shoto knew they would end up straying away from it at some point. As Shoto joined the group, he knew he'd have to be careful not to lose his cool. Places like these could easily stress him out and he didn't want to snap at anybody.
To take his mind off of the whole thing, he thought about yesterday evening. The time he'd spent with Izuku had been so calming. After coming out of littlespace at dinner, it'd felt like a weight on his chest had been lifted; he'd felt so happy. It was great feeling that type of happiness again. Remembering the occasion helped his spirits, making his heart flutter.
"Suncream is highly important." Iida declared, snatching Shoto out of his thoughts. They had entered a drug store - one of Todoroki's nightmares. They sold boring old make-up and stinky perfume. The lights were always exceedingly bright.
"I need a new sun hat, mine is practically falling apart." Uraraka chuckled, staring about. Tsu nodded and gestured to an aisle. Iida swiveled round to look at Shoto and Izuku. "We will pick out the best suncream as to avoid burns and later developing health conditions!"
So that's what the three did. Boredom hung off of Todoroki. Iida spent ten minutes comparing creams trying to get the best offer and Izuku had been snorting an array of perfumes leading him to have a sneezing fit. Tsu and Uraraka had been trying on hats in the mirror and looking through magazines. When would this damn shopping trip end? Shoto shut his eyes in an attempt to avoid the intense lights. He was getting a little sick of it.
After a while, everything was payed for and they moved onwards to a clothing store. Tsu needed a new swim suit and Izuku didn't even have a pair of trunks. On their way, they passed Kirishima and Bakugo.
"Honestly, Kaminari doesn't know his lefts to rights, that's why he's always getting fucking lost and inconveniencing everyone else. Reminds me of Deku when he was little."
"Look, he can't have gone far, Bakugo. Besides, he probably just went to find Sero. He was getting bored waiting for you to pick a Hawaiian shirt. You're so fussy when it comes to clothes!"At least Shoto knew he wasn't the only one getting bored of all this. Arriving in the store, Todoroki found it was somehow worse than the last. The music was irritatingly loud and it seemed pretty busy. The lights were just as uncomfortably glaring as the ones from the last store. Of course, Shoto was the only person noticing.
Tsu and Uraraka tapered off to the women's section whilst Shoto trailed after the two boys, getting progressively more irritable.
"Do you need help, Sir?" One of the staff asked, poking out from behind a rack of discount jeans. Alarmed at the sudden question, Todoroki just shook his head, lost for words. The store employee appeared unphased and simply returned to hanging jeans though Todoroki was internally panicking.
