Weathering the Storms

Musatafu was under siege. Attacks from within and without any mercy from unknown assailants now coming into the light. Every corner was a war zone for Pro-Heroes and Villains alike as if the tumultuous onslaught was brought upon from one event to another. What was harmless cat-and-mouse turned into a deadly game, and those who stood for good were being whittled down one by one.

Across the city's rooftops, Shouto Todoroki skid upon cascades of ice, shooting blazing streams of flames towards a billowing cloak that hopped and leapt across every building with ease. He pulled back, throwing his hand to shoot a large blaze towards the man he chased until a red sigil appeared before him, consuming the flames. Seek's eyes, still engulfed in a gold light, stared at the Hero blankly before opening another portal, redirecting the flames back onto Todoroki with full force. Todoroki had little time to react, pulling back before a giant wave of water breached between the flames and him, dousing the heat with a loud hiss. Both men turned towards you having caught up with Todoroki from behind, your body heaving from the exhaustion and the cold.

"Since when did he have more Quirks?" You asked between bated breaths.

"Kirishima described something similar in his reports," suggested Todoroki. "Keep your distance from him."

Without another moment to spare, Seek turned tail, running again across the rooftops with both of you in tow. The past half hour had been chasing this man across the city after receiving word that he escaped the basement he was housed in without any signs of destroying any exits to do so. This chase explained how, creating portals of some kind and redirecting all forms of attacks back onto yourself and Todoroki. You were learning more of his tricks up his sleeve.

A fiery blast from Todoroki helped steer Seek towards downtown Musatafu before you whipped a harsh shot of water towards him, forcing Seek into a narrow alley devoid of life. The perfect trap, at least you thought before separating ways with Todoroki. Seek continued to flee, but halted his tracks upon finding Todoroki land before him, his hands blazing with ice and fire that danced in the breeze. The crash of water caught his ear, peering back into you, blocking his only other exit. Caught in the middle, blocked by powers of nature from both sides, and yet he did not flinch or falter. His eyes still glowed alight, turning his gaze in-between.

You eyed his mannerisms and his movements. It was as if he was deducing the situation, unable to decide on his next move, and no word uttered from his lips. This was odd. He was very chatty the last time he confronted both of you, and yet that smile of his never showed. Those eyes that glowed fluorescently were almost like the Hosu fires, recalling Sol unleashing flames everywhere. Staring into Seek's eyes only dredged those moments, wondering if he was really in control. A violent wave of his cloak caught you unaware before he took flight towards you, charging at a speed you had not seen aside from Ingenium's. He quickly reached up close, his hand outstretched while it hovered before your face only for you to grab hold of his wrist, throwing him off balance and pushing him aside. Momentum and past mistakes were your lessons, and you've learnt to keep your distance.

Seek slammed into the brick of the alleyway, soon hopping away from the ice and frost that shot towards him, standing with his attention on the prodigal son of Endeavour's agency. In a burst of flames, Todoroki fired, the wave blasting towards him until another sigil appeared below, glowing violently until he suddenly disappeared. You shielded your face from the intense heat that slammed into the brick walls instead, finding no trace of Seek anywhere until a presence made itself known behind you, your eyes glancing at the figure before you turned around to-

"Sho-"

Suddenly, your breath halted, your movements stilled, as if you were trapped in your own bubble. Yet everything seemed to move faster around you, like a blur, hearing only thunderous voices without the words that accompanied them.
