~ three weeks later ~
„Do you need anything from the supermarket? Do you want to go with me?" – Joe asked as he was putting on his shoes
Taylor was currently chilling on the couch in the living room watching something on tv and eating popcorn.
„No, thanks... Actually wait, can you get me some ice cream? Cookie dough would be the best" – she said as she took a sip of her green tea
„Alright, I'm gonna be back in a while"
And he left.
He wasn't that scared of leaving Taylor alone anymore. She was clearly getting better. Of course, there were times when she woke up with a scream in the middle of the night or when she would just break down out of nowhere but she didn't try to hurt or kill herself anymore. Joe was really relieved about that because he was so afraid that one time he wouldn't be there to help her and he would lose her. He couldn't let that happen and he definitely wouldn't be able to go on with his life without Taylor in it. It was obvious that he was happy she's getting better.
Taylor knew she was being really difficult to be around for past few weeks. But losing your own child is something that you wouldn't wish to anyone, even your worst enemy. It's the most traumatic and painful experience that she had to go through in her entire life. However, she noticed a change in herself. Not only Joe saw she was going back to her old self, she saw that too. She didn't have these suicidal thoughts anymore, there weren't any voices that were telling her to end it all. She started to realise that everything happens for a reason and maybe that was just a sign that it wasn't the right moment for them. And she knew that her relationship with Joe would get even stronger because of this. He is always there for her, in her best but also in her worst times and she was endlessly grateful for that.
25 minutes passed by and Joe was back home.
„Sorry, they didn't have cookie dough, but I hope cookies&cream are okay too" – Joe said as he took the pint of ice cream from his bag and gave it to Taylor along with a spoon
„It's fine too, thank you. Do you want some?" – she asked as she opened the pint
„I'm good, thank you. I'm gonna make a quick call to my parents, okay? They called me yesterday but you fell asleep in my arms and I didn't have a heart to wake you up or do it by mistake" – he said
She just nodded and continued on eating her ice cream while Joe went upstairs to call his parents.
„Mum? Hi! How are you doing?"
„Hey Joe! I'm good, I'm good. Patrick has a date tonight and let me tell you, his room is a mess. Anyway, how is Taylor doing, is she okay?" – his mum asked
Of course they knew what happened, they knew how hard it was for her to get through this and understand what happened. They were sick worried about her, she was their daughter in law afterall.
„Oh I can imagine haha. And Taylor is doing pretty good, it's still not perfect but she's on the right path to fully go back to herself"
„That's really good to hear! We were so worried... By the way, would you maybe like to come over for a dinner anytime soon?"
„Actually, we wanted to invite you for a dinner as well, could you come tomorrow?"
„Sure, we'll be there, thank you. Okay, I won't take your time anymore, go to Taylor and I'll see you tomorrow. Bye son"
„Bye mum, love you"
He hang up the phone and went back to Taylor who was still eating ice cream.
