It started about 5 years ago, when you were awoken not by the sound of your usual alarm but instead the soft nudging of an unfamiliar woman, in a room larger than your entire house. Of course, panicking was your natural reaction, you cried and screamed and begged to be returned home, that this had to be some sort of sick joke. To the point where some maids were starting to question your sanity.

"No, please, I'm telling the truth I'm not your lady, please. Please believe me." You said between sobs, your body clad in a nightgown.

"My lady, what are you saying?!" One of them asked while the others ran in a frenzied panic behind her.

"Oh my, what should we do?! I think it's best we call the lord!" Another said.

"Yes, let's call the lord, we should inform the head butler as well, and we must call the doctor. Has the lady gone insane after the engagement got called off?"

'Engagement?' You wondered what they were talking about. 'What engagement?!'

Before you knew it you were surrounded by even more unfamiliar people, the maids had forced you back into your bed as they called for the master of the house.

"My lord, the lady has been muttering strange things since she woke up!"

"My daughter!" One of the strange men said, the one the maids kept referring to as the 'lord'.

You had calmed down at that point, trying to wrap your head around things, still not fully understanding the whole scope of your situation.

"I believe the lady has suffered from memory loss, I cannot pinpoint the exact cause but it is best she is not overwhelmed and you do not force her to remember things." The doctor said, you could feel the heavy atmosphere in the room. 'What exactly happened here?' You asked yourself.

"I'll escort you out, doctor. We can discuss appropriate medicine as well." The butler said as he guided the doctor out and courteously closed the door.

"[name]! My daughter, have you really forgotten your father?!"

You could only watch as the man in front of you broke down in tears, for some reason it hurt to see the unknown man, not just because he was crying. You had stolen his daughter's place, you, an impostor and yet he was convinced that part of his daughter was still with them, still alive and present just not with her memories. You didn't know how to tell him this, considering silence the better option.

'I should just stay quiet for now...'
