When Tachibana Eiko was five years old, she met an early demise.
It was all very dramatic and whatnot, and there's a very long story behind how her heart stopped beating.
As well as how it started back up again.
But that's for another time.
Unfortunately, we don't have time to unpack all of Eiko's emotional baggage in one sitting because, as it seems to often be with many main characters, it's all packed into a few suitcases stacked on top of another suitcase with all of them bursting at the seams.
But I digress.
Upon the moment of Tachibana Eiko's death, her quirk, which had yet to make an appearance prior, decided to flare up with a great gusto. And, to Eiko's fortune, or perhaps misfortune, it brought her back to the land of the living. In fact, it did more than that, it had healed every single injury and scar that she had ever received.
Her father was thankful.
Her mother was horrified.
Now, for a little bit of background, Eiko's mother was extremely religious, and unfortunately for Eiko, she wasn't exactly the chill and respectful type of religious. Nope, she was one of hardcore religious Karen's that simply used the scripture to support her own agenda. It was because of that that her and her husband were in the middle of a divorce.
She was also just an all around bitch, so there's that, too, I suppose.
If it helps to explain any, she got along with Endeavor of all people, and that's pretty self explanatory in and of itself.
Anyways, after witnessing Eiko's resurrection, an idea struck her. It was a rather ridiculous idea, but it was an idea nonetheless.
She had gotten it in her mind that Eiko had somehow been possessed by a demon.
It didn't take long for Hashimoto Amaterasu to isolate her daughter while making continuous failed attempts to 'exorcise' her. Eiko was no longer able to see her father or her sister or any of her friends. For nearly ten years, Eiko only had her mother and those she deemed okay, which were very few, to interact with.
Things had only become worse when the young girl seemingly stopped aging at merely thirteen. (Eiko had mixed feelings about that. On the bright side, she had yet to get her period and would now never have to deal with the waterfall from hell. On the downside, well... Amaterasu was all the more convinced that she was possessed.)
But now, at the age of fifteen, Eiko would be attending UA on the orders of her mother.
Apparently, becoming a hero was supposed to help her repent for her 'sins' or something like that.
The only thing is…
Tachibana Eiko had absolutely no interest in being a hero.
