Chapter 3

timeskip 3 years a) because i don't have ideas and b)this is where the fun begins.

I wake up bright and early ready for a day of training the raptors. I climb down from the loft after getting dressed into appropriate clothes, army pants with a black belt tan shirt and tan combat boots. Walking into the kitchen i grab two granola bars and two bottles of water. Making sure i have everything i exit the bungalow and see dad waiting for me at our bikes. "there's my favorite child." i roll my eyes."Dad i'm your only child." he tosses me my helmet and i look at it and put it on the ground with a shake of my head. dad gives me a disapproving look, i ignore it as  i hate to wear helmets as the are restricting.

we get on our bikes and ride through the trees to the raptor enclosure. getting there we simultaneously get off our bikes taking off our helmets."I don't understand how the two of you do that.how have you been owen,(y/n)." looking to my left i see uncle barry. "been good could be better." dad and i respond at the same time we then look at eachother and laugh. "just stop doing that, the girls are hungry let's go and feed them." the three of us make it to the stairs and head up to the gang planks. dad is handed a bucket of raw meat and one rat."lets see if the girl will listen today." dad grabs his clicker and signals for the workers to release the pig.

i hear a door open and the squeak of the pig running around the enclosure.the pig makes it to the open door and squeezes through for the door to close. the raptors come to a hult as they realise their prey got away. dad uses his clicker to get the girls attention. they look up and see dad."hold.charlie i see you hold it. delta." i don't see this going to well so i listen to the raptors closely.'what does this man thin he is doing. yes he is the alpha but do we have to listen to him' the raptor in question was echo. blue then defends dad 'just behave so we can have some food.'

i walk up to dad and tap his shoulder. he sighs and says." they aren't cooperating today. do you want to give it a go?" i nod my head and listen to the girls again.' it's sister' delta yells. 'she is nicer then alpha.' charlie 'let's listen to her.' echo speaks up and blue just nods her head to me and i nod mine back."hold it girls, eyes up. and we're moving." i then move across the gangpland and the girls follow me."hold. good girls, delta, charlie, echo blue this one's for you." i chuck the girls a piece of meat each but gove blue the rat. i wait a short second for the girls to finnish eating." hold eyes up. GO." i put my hand down as a signal for the girls to run.

all of the people watching give a small cheer for me and the raptors as dad and barry make there way towards me."good job you finally did it." i smile as barry pulls me in for a hug."i still don't know how you do it better then me." i laugh and give him a hug as well and laugh doing so. "owen!" dad barry and I roll our eyes as hoskins comes up to us." Owen. I was starting to think I hired the wrong guys, but, damn, you got them eating out of your palm." he walks up to dad and shakes his hand."You came on a good day. It's not usually a happy ending." they laugh slightly"Is that why you're not sending in your reports?" the two of them talk with each other as they walk across the gangplank and down the stairs. as we make it to the handling cage i tune back into the conversation."These animals can replace thousands of boots on the ground. How many lives would that save? War is part of nature. Look around, Owen. Every living thing in this jungle is trying to murder the other. Mother Nature's way of testing her creations. Refining the pecking order. War is a struggle. Struggle breeds greatness. Without that, we end up with places like this, charge seven bucks a soda." gad and i enter the cage and we respond to hoskins saying"Do you even hear yourself when you talk?"

"This is gonna happen. With or without you boys. Progress always wins, man" i look to dad and he nods and i say"Maybe progress should lose for once." dad and i turn away from Hoskins and someone starts yelling." Pig loose! Pig loose!" the new kid that i this his name is Leon grabs a pole with a ring on the end but as he gets it around the pigs neck delta grabs the pig and leon falls into the raptors' paddock, attracting the attention of Blue, Charlie, and Delta. dad opens the gate and he and i rush inside to save him.
