the rest of your life

Part 6

the rest of the week is a blur. some fires nothing major. just working relaxing and spending time with Carmen. 

it is new Year's, December 31st. 

today is the day you propose to the woman you love. 

you start your day mostly the same. except for today, you wake up first from your excitement and nerves. so you get out of bed and head into the kitchen and make coffee for yourself and Carmen. you fill Maxy's food bowl then head back into your bedroom with the coffees in hand. 

Carmen: what are you doing up so early? 

YN: not sure, just woke up I guess

Carmen: any plans for today

YN: Yeah, just a few. you wanna come? 

Carmen: sure

YN: ok so when you are ready we can get dressed then head to our first stop

Carmen: sounds good to me

you stay in bed laying together for half an hour. then you get dressed. it is cold out so you put on a nice shirt and pants. it is kinda casual so that Carmen won't suspect anything. you pick out two outfits for Carmen to pick from to wear out. you didn't pick out anything too fancy so she wouldn't think we had huge plans.  but tonight is new Year so something kinda fancy wouldn't lead her to suspect anything. 

you head to the first place. you needed to go grocery shopping so you grabbed the shopping bags and head to the car. you gt all the things you need for the week. you finish up then head back home and get ready for the rest of your day. 

you start by going to your parents to see your siblings and this starts your plans. you go to the station and hang out with the old station people very glad that none of your team showed up other than your captain.

you have a few drinks with them then head to the bridge. the bridge is a special place for you. your mom brought you there when you would get mad. the two of you would throw rocks and sticks into the water. 

so when you thought of where the place you wanted your life to change it was the bridge that helped you through struggles. 

you are sitting at the edge your legs tucked under you.

YN: stand up with me and take a picture. the last photo with my GF

Carmen: what do you mean in the last picture

you get down on one knee.

YN: I am hoping that this is the last time I will ever call you my girlfriend because I want to call you my fiance and then my wife. I met you when I was trying to become myself and separate myself from my mom. nobody in the academy ever saw me as more than Maya Bishop-Delucas kid until I met you. we quickly became friends and not long after more. I want my life to grow and be with you. so Carmen Rios will you marry me?

Carmen: yes!!!!

we stood at the bridge watching the fireworks until it was over and it was time to head home.

it has been about 3 months of engagement we are starting to plan the wedding. we decided to wait until next year for the wedding. you want it to be small and in the spring. we told all of our families. they were all so excited. we only told some people at the station because I didn't want daniel or Kevin to say anything to piss me off. Tuck knows and he is so excited.

sorry for the delay. I had no motivation for so long and suddenly I felt happy enough and motivated to write. 

I am sorry that it is so short. I am not sure when the next part will be out. 

I just started a new story. it is a Freelin story if anyone is interested in Keelin and Freya. I just finished the originals and wanted to read some fanfic but there weren't many so I wrote my own.
