Friday, July 13th - Downtown Tokyo - 14:00 (2:00pm)
CW: human trafficking, drug smuggling
Captain Yaku stood alongside his subordinate, Detective Koshi Sugawara as crime scene techs analyzed the area in which the four victims were found.
"Captain! Over here, sir!" A CSI technician yelled, prompting both Suga and Yaku to walk over to him.
"What did you find?" He asked the technician, leaning down to his eye level. The technician lifted up the white blanket to reveal a young brunette girl. She couldn't have been more than 17. Bruises adorned her face, clashing with the makeup, and abdomen below the bright pink crop top she had worn. Something had caught his eye, however.
"Beneath her skirt is a tattoo. I believe it's something that can be recognizable to someone in the Force." He said, before pulling her skirt down just a touch to the area he referenced. The skin was untouched, but before Yaku or Suga had a chance to object, the tech stuck his hand up briefly before reaching into his bag and grabbing a mini UV light. He hovered over the area and under the light was a bright pink dragon tattoo. Yaku's big brown eyes grew ever so slightly at the revelation.
"The Wisteria Dragons are using women as drug mules to move some of their weight. And knowing how they move with and against the Brass Bloods, there's no doubt in my mind that at least some of their product would be laced." He thought out loud. Suga nodded and kneeled beside the victim. He analyzed her body, looking for other telling features. Her eyes, closed at the moment, had dark bags beneath them. Her body seemed small and fragile, like she hadn't been eating. Her dark brown curls looked stiff, the bald spots were coming to the forefront now that she was no longer capable of meticulously hiding them.
"Obviously they weren't being treated well. This girl is no doubt sleep deprived and on the verge of starvation. She's got bald spots on her head. There are some bruises, some old and some new. It's possible she wasn't held as long as some of the others." He explained. Yaku hummed in agreement, then turned towards the technician.
"If you could, can you run a tox screen on what she had in her body? Drugs, alcohol, meds, any food. Can you also relay a message to the Coroner to examine any hidden bruises or scars?" He asked the technician politely. He nodded in acknowledgement before heading back to the van. Yaku ran his hands through his short blonde hair.
"This couldn't get any worse, right?" He sighed. Suga cleared his throat, looking up from his phone.
"Actually, Captain...it's about to."
16:00 (4:00pm) - Special Victims Unit HQ
When they returned, Ohira Reon stood outside Yaku's office, patiently waiting for his return. At their own desks sat Hinata and Kindaichi, both green in the face.
"What did you find?" He asked, taking the file from Reon's hands while his eyes followed him to the unit's whiteboard. The rest of the unit had taken the initiative to plot out the crime map, already securing photos of the victims and placing them on the board.
"Captain, the victims were all kidnapped. Each girl was in the system, listed as missing at the age of 15 all throughout the tri-state area. Miyagi county, Nerima Ward, Downtown Tokyo, Kyoto city, Miyazaki district. It was always hard to trace the kidnappings since they were always sporadic and in different areas." He explained.
"How did you connect the dots?" Suga questioned, his expression clearly perplexed.
"Each of the girls were kidnapped at sunset, always when they were alone and in a desolate area. A town square at its closing, a dark alleyway, an empty street. They also seem to rotate between the locations, where every girl from the same area is taken at least three or so weeks apart." Kindaichi said quietly from his desk, the color slowly returning to his face.
