Friday, July 13th - Internal Affairs Bureau - 5:30am
The elevator doors open with a ding onto the 20th floor. Daichi stepped out, his light grey suit jacket draped over one arm while a cupholder sat in the other. Even though he's not a morning person, he takes it all in stride. He stops at the front desk, Hitoka Yachi mindlessly staring at her computer. He smiles knowingly before putting the cupholder on the counter.
"Good morning, Yachi. Got you something." He greeted, taking her coffee out and handing it to her. Yachi's face became lightly dusted pink.
"Captain Daichi! Good morning! Thank you for the coffee, was it that obvious, sir?" She muttered nervously, really trying her hardest to keep it together. He chuckled deeply.
"No need to be so formal, Yachi. Daichi is fine, honest. And yes...it was just a little obvious. Hope it helps!" He said as he departed from her workspace. She chuckled nervously before beginning to down the rich coffee she so desperately needed. Behind the glass double doors, Daichi walked to his office and put down his belongings before walking next door to Osamu Miya's office. He knocked lightly on the door before coming in, noticing Osamu's head was resting on his desk.
"Osamu? Are you awake?" Daichi whispered, coffee in hand. Osamu hummed in acknowledgement before sitting up, a pen stuck to his forehead. Daichi shook his head before handing him his drink.
"You know, for someone who claims not to be a morning person, you sure do enjoy them a little too much. How did you have time to get coffee before coming here?" Osamu asked as he placed his drink on his desk. Daichi shrugged.
"I don't know, guess it's the Friday magic or something." He guessed, before turning to leave. Across from Osamu was Eita Semi, who was looking out the window as a song played over his computer speakers. He tapped along to the beat against the window before tensing up as Daichi knocked on the door. Semi turned and exhaled appreciatively at the sight of the small paper cup in his superior's hand.
"Thanks, man. I appreciate it." He said as he took a sip. Daichi nodded.
"You look like you don't need it though." Daichi said. Semi snickered to himself.
"I was literally 30 seconds from sitting down at my desk and ending up like Osamu over there." He said, pointing back across the way as Osamu dozed off again, this time with the coffee in his hand. Daichi chuckled before walking out again. His final stop was to his long time friend, Hajime Iwaizumi. Iwaizumi was spinning a volleyball in his hands as he looked out his office window, staring down at the city below. Daichi knocked on the door, causing him to turn around slowly.
"Reminiscing or something?" He asked, placing the coffee on his desk while gesturing to the volleyball in his hands. Iwaizumi scoffed playfully.
"Don't start that shit again, Daichi. I can still beat your ass to this day." He remarked, taking a sip of his coffee as Daichi laughed at him. He sat down at the chair across from Iwazumi.
"Do you know anything about this situation with Vice?" He asked, his head leaning back against the chair. Iwaizumi groaned.
"Yamamoto went ape shit against an offender in their custody. I swear, sometimes I think Futakuchi doesn't know what he's doing." He complained. Daichi hummed in thought.
"Did you get a case file or any info on the case beforehand?" He questioned, gazing towards the endless mess of papers on Iwaizumi's desk. Iwaizumi shuffled the papers around and found the medium sized file.
"Help yourself. I've got all I need to prep for interrogation. They're supposed to report here at 7:30 anyways." He mumbled as he spun his chair around. Daichi took his time reading the file, his heart jumping slightly when his eyes glanced over the name: Wisteria Dragons. Iwaizumi spun back around to face his friend in just enough time before he could sink to that place again. To that dark space in his mind.
