September 2016
It was September, the 18th, to be exact. I was 16. Life was...normal I guess. So I thought.
My parents had an on and off relationship. They tried not to show it, but it was easy to see.
They were toxic.
I was an only child. Even still, I never gotten what I wanted.
Today me and my parents got into it. They didn't like how a lotta shit was looking, and it was a big ass mess.
Before I tell how we got into it let's talk about how we got into this.
We were at a fair. They were invited. Since they didn't trust a nigga by himself, they brought me along. I ain't mind. I needed sumn to do anyways.
"August, we're gonna go meet with some friends, I don't care what you do, just don't leave the fuckin park." My mom instructed.
I nodded indicating I heard her.
Then my dad plucked me in the head.
"Boy you hear yo mama?"
"Yes sir." I sighed.
"Ight na, gon have yo fun." He said as they walked away.
I huffed as I walked around. I then got an incoming FaceTime call from my girlfriend, her name was Jayda.
"Hey ma." I smiled into the camera. I swear she was my happy place.
"Hiii my love! What you doing?" She asked.
"At this damn fair with my parents but they done dipped onna nigga." I sighed.
"Ah damn." She said before her eyes got big. "You should try a fortune teller!"
"Girl they be bullshitten." I said.
"Just try." She said.
I looked at her and she just made a nigga love her more. She was so pretty to me.
"I will." I chuckled.
Then her parents called her.
She sighed. "I gotta go Aug. See you at school tomorrow!"
"Alright." I smiled blowing a kiss into the phone.
She blew one back and then she hung up.
I walked around more and that's when I found the teller. No one was in line, so I walked into the tent.
"What shall bring a 16 year old into my craft?" She smiled snapping her fingers making her candles light up.
"How you do that? And how you know I'm 16...?"
"I have my ways." She said. "Sit."
I sat down as she looked at me and her ball creating separation between us.
"You able to tell my future?" I asked.
"Would you like to know?"
I nodded yes and her tent curtains closed.
I was mad nervous.
She placed her hands on the ball and closed her eyes. Going through different emotions, she finally let go.
"Oh wow." She said taken back. "You're in for a ride."
"So what you see?"
She placed her hands back on the ball going back into her state.
"I see wealth. A lot of it too. You're also a great singer. Beautiful voice. Oh? Who's this? What a pretty young lady. She isn't the girl you're currently with now. I see a family picture with the woman. You, her, a daughter and a son. With the daughter being the oldest. I also see a baby that's supposed to have life. Hm. By the same woman too. You'll meet very soon. Maybe within the next 3-4 years. I most definitely see a marriage. But with the marriage is a whole bunch of ups and downs. Your parents are keeping a huge secret away from you. You'll find out around the time your daughter is born. I see happiness too. Wow. Yes you're in for a long ride."
I was weirded out. I ain't like this shit but Jayda insisted.
"Uh okay..."
"When the time is right, you'll remember to come back and visit me with your new family." She smiled. "There's someone waiting outside for you."
I turned around and saw that the curtains were open and my mom holding some funnel cake.
"Why you in this creepy ass place?" She asked.
I turned around and the lady wasn't there anymore.
"I- it was a lady that- but she was just.."
"You going insane Aug. Come on. We boutta go." She said grabbing my hand.
I really thought about what she said. Was Jayda not who I was gonna have a life with?
And I most definitely ain't want no kids. At least not right now.
We got to the car where my dad was and we were on the way home.
"August did you ever get the supplies from Zee?" Pops asked.
I was scared to answer.
"No sir.. they pulled out weapons on me."
He immediately stopped the car.
"Kaior." He called me by my middle name.
"Yes?"
"Do you understand how bad that can make us look?" He yelled.
"I'm sorry! But I had to protect myself!"
"This shit ain't good." Ma sighed. "We can't have you around and they find us. They probably know that you know us by now. You gotta get out the house."
"What...? You're kicking me out over stupid shit?!"
"Our lives are in danger now because of YOU." Pops responded.
After more and more arguing, we made it to the house. They immediately had me pack.
"Here. 1 stack for cheap rent. Find you somewhere. They let 16 almost 17 year old's do that shit." My dad said handing me money.
I packed all my shit into a busted ass car that they gave me for my 16th.
I drove off as my tears welled up.
I hated crying.
I didn't necessarily fuck with the rest of my family. Only my aunt. But she done went MIA.
First thing after school tomorrow was to find me an apartment to apply to.
What a life I fuckin live.
This was only the beginning...
