The Herobrine Quest

Chapter 5. A Traitor Among Us

"You understand that you can't help me without revealing you're a traitor, right?" The creature said. The girl before him grinned and said "Of course. Anyways, I might as well ally with the winning side." The creature studied the girl, then said "You are are a smart warrior. You make wise choices. I accept you as my ally."

The girl nodded and said "Then in return I will give you my friends plans as soon as I receive them." The creature asked "Why do you wish to join with me and Herobrine?" The girl replied, a hint of anger in her voice "My friends always leave me out! And they've done it for so long that I don't remember the last time I went on a mining trip with them." The creature grinned.

It said "Well, as my ally they will certainly pay attention. As a matter of fact, I will announce this development to Herobrine as soon as I reach his hidden fortress. I'm sure you will be rewarded greatly for joining his side." The girl smiled and said "That's what I was waiting to hear." The creature nodded it's head and the girl walked away.

Unsure what to do next, and certain that the girl was gone, he began working on the potion he had been creating for the last few days since Herobrine summoned him. "Fermented spider eye...ghast tear...glistening melon...rotten flesh...let sit for twenty-four hours."

He placed the unusual concoction on a table and covered it with a cloth. Once he drank this potion, as Herobrine ordered, the nine other warriors mentioned in the prophecy would stand no chance.

It also helped that he was getting information about their plans from a spy. He grimaced as the rippling pains went through his body again. This had been happening for a while now, and he wasn't sure why. Then, a bright flash of white light nearly blinded him. It was a hologram of Herobrine. He bowed his head and said "Master, one of the warriors has already allied with me." He smirked and said "Smart of her to join the winning side."

Herobrine waved aside his report and said "The pains you feel are there for a reason. The more they increase, the closer your quarry is." He cringed as a particularly deep pain went through him. "Was it necessary to do it in this way, Master?" He asked. Herobrine grinned and replied "For the demon brother of Notch, of course. And it also reminds you what side you're on."

Herobrine's face had darkened with the last sentence and the creature felt a frisson of fear. "Master, I know which side I'm on. I always will be your minion." He reassured Herobrine. The hologram vanished as suddenly as it appeared and the creature was left alone.
