Hey guys! There is a video attached. It's not perfect, a bit scream-y, but I think it goes pretty well with this chapter. So, enjoy!
Steph went still.
She planned her next move very carefully, going over it again and again in her head until she had memorized it. "Herobrine, guess what?" She asked, and he replied with an exasperated "What?"
Steph paused to take a breath, calming her nerves for the time being. The cold metal of the knife bit into her neck. Then she spoke. "I may not have any fancy magical powers, but I sure as heck have a second dagger."
And, in a single fluid motion, slammed the dagger into his chest.
For a few seconds, Herobrine stood there, uncomprehending. Then, by the time he realized what had happened, he had fallen to his knees. No blood sprang from the gaping wound in his chest.
He reached a hand up to pull the dagger out, but his strength was failing fast, and he just managed to brush his fingers against the hilt before he collapsed to the ground.
Looking up at Steph, he whispered one word: "Why?"
And at that moment, Wolf came flying over the top of the hill. She took one look at Herobrine, who lay on the ground, dagger still embedded in his chest, and lunged at Steph.
"HOW COULD YOU?" She roared, and suddenly Ranger and Blaze were beside her, restraining her before she could attack Steph, who had stumbled back a few paces in shock.
"HE WAS MY BROTHER!" Wolf was shouting, and Herobrine managed to lift his head long enough to hear it clearly. And he did the strangest thing. He smiled. Then he drew in a shuddering breath.
Wolf turned to him slightly and, upon seeing that he was alive, rushed to his side. She only had to glance at the wound in his chest to know that it was fatal. Her body went numb.
Her brother was dying.
No matter how evil he might be, he was her brother. And that counted for something. Slowly, she turned Herobrine over so that he lay face up. Steph stood a few blocks away, not daring to interfere.
Quickly, Wolf gripped the hilt of the dagger and slid it out of his chest. Herobrine didn't respond. He just stared at her. Wolf looked out across the Void. No matter what she wanted, she had to do this.
Herobrine gathered all his strength and pushed himself into a kneeling position, clutching his wounded chest. Grinning faintly, his eyes dimmed with each passing second.
"Do it." Herobrine said quietly.
Wolf looked at him, then closed her eyes. Nodding almost imperceptibly, she stood. A firebolt ignited in her palm and she took several steps back. Herobrine raised his head.
Wolf took a deep breath, but didn't move. She looked around at her friends, then at Herobrine, and the firebolt swelled. She fixed her gaze on his chest, right where the dagger had gone.
Time seemed to slow down. She brought her arm back, and the firebolt swelled even larger than before. Exhaling sharply, she let the firebolt fly, hitting Herobrine square in the chest.
He flew backwards off the edge of the island. Wolf heard small bits of his shattered laughter as he plunged into the codeless Void. She had...she had banished her own brother to live the rest of his life in nothingness.
Turning, she found her friends as she had last seen them, watching solemnly. She said "I guess our mission's over." Ranger nodded, but didn't speak. Blaze said quietly "It's so...empty, now that Herobrine's gone. The mission's over, so what now?"
Meanwhile, Toxic was trying to slip away unnoticed.
"Ah, I don't think so."
