Her feet rushed across the everlasting forest, gathering speed every time a second would swing by. She ran with all her might, hoping she was growing further from any animal rather than growing nearer. Her heartbeat was loud against her chest, as her braided burgundy hair swung behind her. Her feet were quicker than a human and her eyes were unlike human eyes
But they instilled fear as she ran further and deeper into the depth of the moonlight-washed emerald woods. She disturbed the hushed forest with the sound of her trainers touching the muddy surface as she jumped up across tree roots and ducked across branches.
Serina's feet stopped running only when she almost tripped on an Arrowwood bush. She crouched down to the grass and panted, closing her eyes tight as her lungs tried to breathe in as much air as possible within seconds. Opening her eyes, her ebony iris looked around, finding herself in between a maple tree and an acorn tree. The floor was flooded with mud, while tree roots popped out of the soil, becoming barriers for a person who might try to enter deeper into the heart of the forest.
Serina dragged herself to a moss-covered tree root, resting her head on the tree as she did.
She stared at the tree ahead of her, her eyes blank, flinching at every sound of life and hardly making any sound herself.
She stared at her wristwatch. She had only wasted thirty minutes to get there and the full moon was still up. Feeling angry at herself, she kicked a pebble on the ground and made a growling noise. An owl flew from somewhere on the top branch. Serina flinched again as she automatically looked up to see what made the sound. Through the branch's leaves, she saw the silver moon.
Illuminated as ever, the moon stared back at her. Serina quickly looked down, feeling her body warm-up. Panicking, she felt as if her heart was going to pounce out of her chest. Her heart beating faster and faster, she made a tiny growl and felt her body get warmer. Her tiny groans turned into loud screams as her body started to gradually change.
Her scream echoed through the forest, but no one heard it. Her hair began to change to the colour of brownish-red as the same hair began to run around her body. Fur began to grow everywhere and her eyes turned to a hungry yellow. Fangs began to grow on her teeth and her scream turned into a loud growl. The body changing suddenly stopped. The pain stopped. Now, where Serina, the human, stood, was a red wolf.
