I lied there looking up at the bright crimson sun helpless. My gray skin cracking in the scorching heat. My mother lied next to me. Not how any mother should lie next to their child, boy no. She lied dead. She was dead because of them, the poachers. The men with the knives and guns. They'd taken such a small thing away from her in exchange for her life. Her tusk. They already had tusks their fingernails. They kill my kind in exchange for money. They call us beasts. They are the beasts the beasts who kill for a small ugly thing.
I remember the terror filled eyes of my mothers calling for me to leave. I did the poachers laughed at me and said don't worry kid well be back when that stump of yours has grown. I watched as the small bullet implanted in her pregnant stomach. I would of had a sibling they did not just kill one innocent sole that day they killed two.
I screamed for her as they cut her tusk. But what enraged me the most is what they said not much only sell for at least 100 rubies, don't worry lads well find a better one next time come on we have to go don't want a herd finding the beast while wer here I charged but they had already started driving away.
I walked over to my mother. I lied down next to her and put my head on her stomach. Hoping to hear the beating of a heart but there was no noise at all. A small salty tear trickled down my gray cheek.
I was fine physically but shattering mentally. I was alone and lost from my herd. Why even try to find my herd its late anyway. And with that I slowly fell asleep to the gentle Russell of branches.Hope you liked it please like or whatever you press to think its good. It would be great if you could most of the stories I do our unpopular. So I just want to see if I can get people liking this. Comment ideas for the elephants name cause I'm really bad at names and don't want my story to be wrecked by a small thing like that
