Different colored lights passed through the cardboard box. For some reason, I have suddenly gained consciousness, self-aware and sentient. I was being carried somewhere, somewhere with a lot of children. Whoever was carrying me was grunting while carelessly tossing me around the box. I felt a thump as I was placed down, and the footsteps faded away into the sea of screaming and laughing children.
Nobody passed by since then, the noises started to die down as children were leaving. It felt horrible to be trapped in a small box. I was positioned badly, I couldn't see, and I almost felt as if I couldn't breathe, not that a robot could anyways.
I kicked and tried to free myself, tumbling and rolling around until I broke out. In front of me was a melancholy looking wall, worn down and rotten. I stood up for the first time, stretching my limbs as if I were human, I felt bigger and taller. I turned around to see an open arched doorway with a platform outside. I ambled towards it, assuming that's where everybody else is. As I trampled on some boxes blocking the path, I notice how colorful the walls on the other side compared to the room I was in.
I step onto the platform to be met with a huge colorful playground. My eyes adjusted to the brightness and the colors. There were about only few kids left, some were hiding behind objects and giggling. Another was burying herself in the ball pit below. I spotted another figure lurking behind the structures, its bells ringing as they walked.
"Ready or not, here I come!" he said with an energetic voice.
"Hey look! Another robot!" one of the kids shouted, which somewhat startled me. I stumbled back to run back into the room, only to trip to the side and fall down to the ball pit. I land harshly onto my side, children screamed as the girl trampled out the pit in terror. It was only my first few hours, and I may have already damaged myself.
"Calm down calm down!" the voice said. I heard its robotic parts easing towards me, another animatronic. I stayed low and slowly tried to move to a different location, but I was already too late. I felt hands grasp around my torso and being pulled out.
"Whoa, what do we have here? Another friend!" It said in a joyful voice. He was almost three times my size and was funky looking with a terrifying smile. He pauses for a moment, staring at me with his beady white eyes as if I was familiar. I could hear mechanical noises as if there were cogs turning in his head. A security guard approaches our direction.
"What happened here?" She asked concerningly, then glanced at me and gasped. "Oh my, how did it get out here?! Her torso already has a small dent in it, poor thing.
She tried to reach out to touch me, but hesitated. I was dying to be put down, I tried to kick at the sun looking thing, but my legs were too short. He shook his head and turned around. The children gasped as they finally got a glimpse of me. He sat me down for the children to greet me.
"Awwww, she's soo CUTE!!!" He cooed. "What is your name little one? You're SO colorful!"
I made a shrill noise in response and felt myself making glitchy movements.
"AAAAHHHHHH!!" The animatronic jumped back, startled. The kids shrieked and the security guard immediately grabbed me.
"SUN! Don't scare them, she's just having mechanical issues right now!"
"Did you not HEAR that? My heart almost EXPLODED!!!" He put his arm over his forehead and pretended to faint, making the children giggle.
"Just escort them back to their parents please, this little one needs fixing."
Sun lifted his body up and watched as I was being taken away. He waved his hand saying goodbye, and I slightly waved back. He seemed somewhat lonely.
