Just as the fire was about to come out she jumped up and hacked a hole in the dragon's throat
Fire poured out, running down the neck and catching the fur on fire
As the great beast roared in pain the rider tried desperately to get out of the saddle but his foot was stuck
Mikashi jumped up and cut the saddle off, then jumped on top of the man as he hit the ground. She put one foot on his neck and drew her sword. She demanded that her who he was and what nation he was from.
His mouth opened to speak but before he could say anything Mikashi heard a roar directly behind her and jumped out of the way just as the burning dragon stumbled over a rock, crashed down onto the man and stopped moving.
Mikashi heard a gasp and looked up to see the family staring at her.
As she walked toward them through the smoke, the last rays of sun shone red around her making the edges of her hair glow
Her spearhead glittered in the light as the blood slowly pooled and dropped off her sword
The people's eyes went very wide
Then they murmured to each other and began to bow
The little girl broke free and went up to Mikashi
She looked shy for a second, then reached up and touched Mikashi's red tunic
Then reached over and picked a drop of dragon blood off the sword
She rubbed it between her fingers, then looked up at Mikashi and smiled
Mikashi knelt down and whispered, "it's all right, I guess I'm here to help".
After talking to the parents and assuring them she was not a goddess, they told her that the Drakil men had come from the east, looking for treasures. They had been trying to find supplies and some gold, but mostly the mammoths of the desert ridge, from whom came the strongest and purest ivory in the known world.
