His joints popped as he arched his back, backwards. Akaashi leaned against the wall, deep breathing to calm his spasming nerves. Akaashi was bothered by an ill feeling poking at his subconscious. He doubled checked his skates, his costume, anything and everything he was using or wearing multiple times, yet the feeling wouldn't go away.
Hinata tilted his head while he stared at Akaashi,
"What's wrong?" Akaashi looked over at Hinata, giving him a puzzled smile.
"You're never usually nervous before competitions, something up?"
Akaashi shook his head, "No, nothing, I'm just thinking a little too much"
Hinata smiled his natural, bright smile at him. Akaashi impulsively smiled back, dimmer but still vivid. Hinata looked his arm around Akaashi, guiding him down the warm narrow halls.

There was so much air, yet he couldn't inhale it. With every rise and fall with his chest, he felt all the wires and pads on him. His head felt heavy, and his eyes felt weird. Raising his eyelids felt impossible, but they twitched open and rolled at the bright light.
There were many heads around him, and he glanced at all of them in their eyes. They all looked melancholic, the deep sadness in their eyes burning in his own.
"Keiji? Can you sit up?" Akaashi moved up slightly, resting tightly against the uncomfortable hospital bed. The doctor handed him a glass of water, making sure he had the strength to hold it. Akashi took a small sip of water, clearing his throat gently.
"W-What happened?" Yhe doctor sighed lightly,
"You were skating with your partner, but you skates haply been tampered with and there was a collision, you suffered a terrible concussion and few bruises and cuts on your arms and legs." Akaashi thought for a second,
"Partner?" His mother, that was standing right beside him, had started sobbing. His father held her and he wiped his own forming tears. He felt bad, he remembered them luckily and it broke his heart to see his mother shed a tear over him.
"You don't remember your Partner? Hinata Shoyo?" His name rung throughout his head, a pretty shade of orange sat in the middle of his mind. He mouth his name, it sat comfortably on his tongue as he said it over and over again.
"What happene to him? Can I see him?" The doctor blinked a few times before nodding, assisting Akaashi into a wheel chair and wheeling him down to Hinata's room.
A long, ongoing bleep rung through his room, and Akaashi saw his mother and little sister standing at his side, crying as they repeatedly said his name. He hand tnoticed himself starting to tear until he felt a cold, wet sensation slide down his cheek.
He didn't understand why he was crying, or why his heart felt a little swollen, but he knew the death was significant to him.
"Orange" He mumbled it to himself. Whom he preassumed to be Hinata, had pretty orange hair. He stared for long time, his features clicking into places he didn't know existed inside his mind. His mother grabbed his hand,
"You two were together for a year, you guys loved ice skating and playing volleyball" He could tell she wanted to say more but her throat had gone dry from crying and sobbing for so long. He wheeled himself over to the boy, grabbing his cold, dry hands. He was covered in bandaid, but he still looked pretty in Akaashi's eyes.
"I'm sorry I don't remember you" He whispered it, repeating his apology as more tears riddled their way down his face. Guilt settled in his gut, feeling that was his fault for everything that had happened.
He wanted to mourn properly for the boy he'd forgotten, and crying in the hospital wasn't the way to do it.

He'd finally been discharged and allowed to go home, but dread carried him from the hospital to his bedroom. He laid on his bed, the memories of cold, narrow halls filled his head. They felt warm, and his arm felt heavy, but it was cold and arm had nothing on it.
His sheets smelled like another person, he didnt recognize the scent but it smelled comforting. He hugged his pillow, making up the disfigured features of the person who stayed present in his head.
It came back slowly, and he realized how bad the injuries his partner— Hinata, had suffered. The doctor told him what happened, and it made him gag everytime.
His finger was practically severed,
There was multiple cuts on his neck and face from the skates,
His head was nearly bashed in from Blunt force he suffered,
And the other skate got caught in his stomach.
Akaashi felt almost empty, his Yin being lost and the feeling of guilt and remorse pounding into his head.
It pounded,
And pounded,
And pounded,
Until he could no longer feel the emotions he felt before that tournament.
I like angst but this was warm goat shit,
This sounded so much better in my head,
Haha oops-
