"Hey." Says a voice. I just want to sleep.
"Hey! Teressa!" He shakes me. Kal. I wake up.
"What?" I say, still trying to open my eyes.
"We're here." He laughs.
"Oh." I can't see anything. I'm still kind of sleeping.
"Come on, get out." He gets out.
I open the door slowly and get out. I shut the door and almost fall over. I'm so exhausted.
"Here," he says laughing at me, "let me help you." He walks up to me and picks me up. I'm in his arms. I'm probably light to him. He's so strong. I can feel his muscles. So warm and comforting he is. I smile. He looks at me and I can feel his smile. I sneak a peak at him smiling. I love when he smiles. I finally see him smile. I made him smile. I make him smile. He has dimples!
He walks up the stairs and knocks on the door. This place looks old. The door opens and a guy who looks like he's in his fifties stands at the door. A cigar in his mouth. He looks nasty.
"Who is this? She drunk?" He asks Kal.
"No." Kal says and sets me down on my legs. I force my eyes open with all my strength and act normal. That was weird.
"Come in." He says and opens the door for us. We enter.
This is a crappy looking place.
"For a man who doesn't take care of his place, I think he...." I whisper to Kal.
"Shhhh!" Kal says smirking.
"So what do you want Kal?" Asks his uncle with a bad attitude.
"Weapons of course. All I got is a stupid long sword and all she has is a gun."
"Alright."
We follow his uncle into his basement.
"So, is this your girl friend? Or did you just meet her off the street?"
"Met her on the street."
The word girl friend makes me blush.
Wow. He has a whole collection of weapons everywhere. Hung up all on his walls. All kinds of guns and everything. I pick up a shot gun from the wall. Just what I used when I hunted with my father.
"You like shot guns?" Asks Kal.
"Yeah, I would always use one when my dad took me out hunting."
"Ahhh, we got a hunter girl over here. Sexy." He says smiling at me.
"Sexy?" I say smiling.
"Well." He says shrugging his shoulders.
"You find it sexy?"
"Maybe." He blushes.
I blush too, I can't help it.
"Too bad you already know how to shoot."
"Huh?"
"Cuz I would of taught you the sexy way how to shoot. You know, place my hand on your waist and everything."
I laugh.
"Alright you two, stop flirting and pick something out! Only take a few things." Yells his uncle.
"Alright." Says Kal under his breath.
I grab a large knife and Kal grabs a bow and arrow.
"Alright, you got your choice now leave, I don't want any one who's related to Kevin and Kelly over on my property again!" His uncle snaps.
"Excuse me?" Says Kal.
"Who's Kevin and Kelly?" I ask Kal.
"My parents." He says
Oh shit.
"You don't talk that way about my parents, I don't care who you are! You aren't my dad's brother, and you definitely aren't my uncle!" Yells Kal. His face is bright red and angry.
"At least I didn't get drunk and beat my wife!"
Kal slams his right fist on the wall and it leaves a small dent mark. It startles me and I jump.
"THAT WAS AN ACCIDENT! STOP TALKING ABOUT MY FATHER YOU LAZY..."
"Kal...calm down." I say, and I take his hand. He grips it tightly and it hurts. I let him grip it, I let him use all his strength to get his anger out. I know it soothes him and calms him.
"Teressa, let's go." He says calmly and we walk up the stairs. His uncle follows. Kal still holds my hand, leading me towards him to follow right by his side. He opens the front door.
"Yeah! Get out of here!" His uncle yells and throws a bear bottle at the door and it almost hits me. It shatters at my feet. Me and Kal stare at him.
"What the hell is wrong with you man?! You don't hit her!" He runs up to his uncle and slams him against the wall. Fear is in his uncles' eyes.
"Kal! Kal that's enough stop!" I yell running up to him. I push Kal off of him and take his hand.
"Let's go." Kal walks with me out the door, hand in hand.
"Fuck you!" I yell at his uncle and then throw a rock at his window. Just like the old days, when I was a bad teenager.
Kal looks at me and laughs.
"I can't believe you just did that!" He says laughing.
"Let's go! Before he gets us!" I say and we run in the car together and speed away.
I roll down my window and feel the wind flying through my hair as we speed away.
