7 years later.
Our daughter is 7 years old now. Her name is Jayden. Cory is often overprotective of her. But that's what parents do. Jayden looks like Cory, his mom, and me. Mostly like his mom."I bet I can put her hair into two braids." Cory said. "Daddy, last time that happened my part wasn't even." Jayden said. "She's not lying." I said. "Since when did yall become a team and started ganging up on me?" Cory said. "When she was born." I said. Cory smiled. "Can I go play with my toys?" Jayden asked. "Sure." Cory said.
"Can I talk to you?" I said. "Sure." Cory said. "I really hate to bring this up but do you remember what happened 7 years ago before Jayden was born?" I said. Cory had paused and said "Yeah." "Thats not the first time it happened to me." Cory looked at me and said "I know." "How'd did you know?" I asked. "I saw the bruises when we first met, y/n." Cory said. "Oh." I said. "Sometimes I don't even understand why you guys are still with me." Cory said. "Because." I said. Cory: "Girl, that is not an answer."
Me: Fine. Because we love you."
