Catherine stared out the window, watching the ocean waves pasted by as the Black Pearl continued to sail to a destination she knew nothing about. It may have been the morning; it may have been the early afternoon. Whatever time it was, she wasn't sure how much of it she had spent staring out the window.
Yesterday's events buzzed around Catherine's mind, filling it with far too many thoughts and questions she couldn't fully process each of. Why, why, why did Jack have be so stupid all those years ago? He made a deal with the devil and now he has to pay the price. All for a ship. Catherine loved the Black Pearl, she agreed it was magnificent ship, full of so much beauty and wonder. But she did not think it was worth such a price. A ship is a ship, that is a done deal in her book. There was never a ship worth sacrificing everything for.
Even more so now, challenging against chance and the cards of fate with Jack's plan. It was dangerous. More than dangerous, it was incredibly risky. She wasn't sure how any of this could work out. Hope was rarely a mindset that Catherine had. She even had a hard time playing with optimism and positivity. But now, it seemed, she had to train her mind and heart into beleiving in hope and optimism, for the sake of her husband's life.
A gentle knock came from the door, a familiar beat she knew all too well.
Sighing, she knew she couldn't stay angry at Jack for long, she loved him too much. Time was precious now it seemed. Forgiving and moving on is more important than keeping her husband locked in a cage. Forgetting was something she desperately wished she could do. But if she forgets, her husband will be ripped from her.
"Come in," She called softly, hoping her voice was loud enough to carry across the room.
It seemed it had.
The door opened, cracking opening, showing the pirate peaking a dark eye into the room at her. Slowly he opened the door, moving at the same pace inside. Neither of them spoke a word even after he shut the door behind him, they only held each other's gaze.
Normally, when Jack did something that resulted in Catherine kicking him out for the night, Catherine would still be furious and Jack would attempted to be lovey to her, hoping to crack her defenses. Every time it worked like a charm, earning laughter and playful eye rolls.
But this time it was different. Catherine was heartbroken and Jack was quiet.
She stood there, arms crossed over her chest, watching him watch her, hesitation in his eyes and body. It was so painfully quiet in that room. The look on Jack's face made her heart squeeze. A frown graced his lips, a guilty, shameful look in his beautifully dark eyes.
Something came over Catherine in that moment.
She broke.
Moving away from the window, she stride across the room towards him, tears welling up in her eyes. Jack then broke, rushing towards her, relief coating his face. He pulled her to his chest, holding her as close as possible to his heart. A hand reached up to cradle her head as he pressed multiple kisses to her hairline.
A sniffle came from Catherine. "I don't want to lose you," She cried softly against his shoulder, twisting his clothes on his chest in her fingers.
"You won't lose me, love," Jack cooed quietly into her ear.
Catherine pulled back, looking up at him with watery eyes. "How can you say that? How can you be so sure?" She asked, feeling a little insulted by his words.
This prompted Jack to open his mouth and then shut it. His hand reached up to cup her jaw, fingers tickling under her hair. At last, he finally said, "Because last time I check, you'd kill me if anyone ever tried to kill me." A small smirk formed on his lips.
His words made her scoff out in amusement, but she didn't smile. She gave his chest a small shove, still holding his clothed chest in her grip. "I can't kill you if you are taken from me." A small cry came from her, making her drop her head. She hated to cry in front of people, she hated crying period.
Jack lost his smirk, the guilt look creeping on to his handsome features once more. "I'm so sorry, my darling Catherine," His words every so soft she almost didn't hear him. He lifted her face in his face, causing her to look at him. "I'm so sorry I did this, that I am putting you through this. I didn't know that it would come to this. I didn't expect to meet you. To marry you. And I am sorry for not telling you." He panted as he watched her face for any reaction.
She held his wrists as he held her face. All she did then was sniffle and shook her head, a roll of her eyes shortly following. "God, you still drive me as insane as you did when we first met." She blew out air, sniffling again.
The tone she used made Jack's shoulder's ease. A small grin grew. "I would hope so. It keeps our marriage fun and exciting!"
This made Catherine burst out a single laugh that turned into a small fit of laughter. Her head dropped forward by the power of her laughter. It touched against Jack's chin, which he dipped down to kiss the skin that met her hairline. Leave it to Jack Sparrow to be the only individual alive to cause her to break whatever bad mood she may be in.
Lifting her head up once more, a light returned to her hazel eyes. It was a sight that made her husband smile. He leaned forward, pressing their foreheads together. "I am sorry, love. I'm sorry. I'm sorry."
Catherine nodded against his skin, closing her eyes. "I know." She let out a sigh, sniffling. "I know."
"And I promise, from now on, no more secrets. Every thought or plan I have, I will include you in on. You have my word," Jack vowed.
Opening her eyes, she looked at him, watching his closed eyelids. "I know, Jack, I trust you." He opened his eyes then, meeting hers. They stood there for a moment, just watching each other, memorizing their faces once more. She broke the silence again, "They said the word of a pirate means nothing. I believe them to be wrong. Especially with you."
Jack stared at her adoringly. He told her once that she was the only person who made him feel like he was a good man, a man of honor, of worth. Even if he was a pirate, no one ever made him think well of himself except for her. And he admitted that he fell in love with her more and more because of it. A part of him even began to fall in love with himself, who he was. And he always thanked for her that.
He leaned in closer. "I love you, Catherine Bailey," He whispered against her lips, brushing his nose against hers.
For the first time that day, she found her playfulness grow. A smirk grew on her lips. "That's Sparrow to you, Captain," She teased.
The signature grin of the pirate grew, making her toes curl. "My apologies, Mrs. Sparrow." He leaned in, sealing their lips together with a passionate, yet gentle kiss.
Whatever happened next, Catherine vowed right then she would do everything in her power to always be there for her husband, in life and in death. She'd go to the sun, to the moon, and all the stars in between to ensure just that.
Happy Monday Update everyone!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I can't believe we made it all! A new year is here and I hope it is a good one for you all.
So this chapter is a small chapter today. I wasn't sure what I was going to write if I'm being honest until I just wrote it. With all the craziness to happen in the coming chapters, I felt like a small intimate moment between Catherine and Jack was in order. I also wanted to have them talk and let go of what happened last week between them. I live for their soft moments together like this. I ship them so hard, it's not even funny!
Anyways, I hope you all enjoyed this weeks chapter! I start school in a few days and have three mini classes, and one full term class. Little nervous but I can do it. I hope everyone start back to school goes smoothly! Have a great week!
