She woke a few hours later and he still wasn't next to her. She sat up, pulling the blanket around her body. She looked around the room. He stepped in the door.
"Hey," he said.
"Hi," she replied softly.
"Sleep ok?"
"Yeah, are you ok?"
"Yeah, why?"
"You look weirded out."
"Nah, I'm good. You are incredible babe."
She wasn't sure that he was being for real. He sat on the edge of the bed with her. She looked at him. He leaned over and kissed her.
"Date three next week," he said.
"What do you call those other ones?" she asked.
"Nah, those were just dinners. This is an actual date. Fancy and shit."
She chuckled and nodded. He climbed back into bed with her and pulled her into his arms. They both went to sleep again. They were heading out for his birthday that night. Madelyn was excited about it because she hadn't really met many of his friends. He was going to introduce her to a few of them.
The next week they went out for their third date since getting together officially. She sat across from him, and he knew had to ask her. He had tour dates coming up and he wanted her to go with him. He didn't want to go without her. He had set this whole date up. She smiled at him. He sent a half smirk back at her.
"What have you been up to this week?" she asked.
"Getting ready for these next shows," he said.
"Cool."
"Wanna come with?"
That caught her off guard. She stared at him for a minute.
"What?" she asked.
"Come with me," he said again.
"Are you crazy?"
"I might be."
She laughed. He smiled.
"I don't like being without you Mads. I want this to work more than I have ever wanted anything to work out in my life. To be completely honest, I don't know why," he said.
She sat there, unsure of what to say.
"Marshall," she began.
"Just come with me," he said.
"Why do you want this so bad? I am so damaged; I don't know if I can handle all the groupies that you have around you."
"I don't need those groupies if I have you."
She sighed. She agreed to go with him though. She had already gotten her passport about a month earlier. She had done it on a whim just in case. Marshall grinned about her going with him. He was excited to have her come on tour with him. They were going to Australia for about a week. She was a bit excited about it even though she was nervous.
"It will be all right. I promise," he said.
She nodded. The waitress placed their meals on the table. She lingered just a moment near Marshall. Things like that put Madelyn on edge but she didn't want to say anything to Marshall to make herself sound crazy. He hadn't given her a reason not to trust him so she really needed to just calm down and go with the flow.
That night he sat on the couch with her in his arms. They were watching television and he had a thought cross his mind.
"Can I introduce you to the world as my girl?" he asked her.
She shook her head.
"You ashamed of me?" he joked.
"Never that, handsome. I just need you to know that I don't care about the fame and the chaos. I just need you and I'm good," she said, kissing his cheek.
"But you will go on tour with me?"
"If you want me to, yes. But I don't need the spotlight. That's your thing. Just know I will be waiting backstage for you."
He nodded as he pulled her closer to his chest. She began to pepper his face with kisses. He closed his eyes and just enjoyed it.
"Marshall Bruce Mathers III, you are so incredible," she said.
"How did I get so lucky to get you?" he asked.
She blushed and kissed his lips again.
"I'm not perfect," she said.
"Oh but you are baby," he replied.
She chuckled as he pulled her down under him on the couch. He pressed his lips to hers and deepened it quickly. She moaned against him.
