"What do you want?" Lena puts the phone to her shoulder and whispers to me to call Brainy. I text Brainy, "Lena is getting a call from Otis Graves, can you track it?"
"He is using about 60 different blocks from my hacking. It appears that he really doesn't want us to know where he is."
"Keep on trying Brainy."
"Sprock, I can't." I end the call and shake my head no. She looks sad and disappointed, I wish I could help her more. Lena puts her phone on speaker and I try really hard to stay quiet.
"Did ya think that you would never hear from the boss ever again? He keeps his word. The Long Family are in his debt, Henry Long owes him. So here is the deal, either give me Henry Long or I will kill little Marie here." There is screaming in the background, I understand it perfectly, "No, don't do it Ms. Luthor!" I can't keep quiet any longer.
"Otis, you don't have to do this."
"Oh, good. Supergirl, I wondered where you were. Let's just say, we are expecting you. The boss told me to give you 48 hours to get Henry Long to me or Marie is.." Lena presses the end call button before Otis could speak again. She looks at me with an anger I have only seen a couple times. The anger she used to almost kill Morgan Edge, the anger at Eve, the same anger that she used to use kryptonite on me in the Fortress.
"Lena?" I ask as she pulls away from me.
"Can we go to the tower? Can everyone meet us there?"
"Yeah, of course. Are you ok?"
"No. I feel like a did when I killed Lex, I should've killed him when I saw him again. I hate him so much, every time I try to pull away, he finds more and more ways to get closer to me. It's a dance to the death scenario."
"Lena.." I unbuckle my seatbelt and get closer to her, "Everyone is gonna be just fine, I promise."
"Driver? Could we go to J'onn J'onzz's office?" Lena asks politely. She is a kind soul, she's just tormented by trauma. She doesn't look at me the rest of the car ride. We get to the tower and J'onn is waiting for us. He is waiting on a barstool in front of a giant computer.
"Hey, any luck?" I ask as Lena and go to a table in the middle of the room.
"No, any luck on your end?" J'onn says as Kelly and Nia walk in.
"No. Dreamer have you dreamed of anything?"
"I wish. I am gonna keep on trying." Lena aggressively flips through her spell book trying to find a spell that could help us find Marie. Hours pass of all of us doing our best to find her but yet no luck. Alex finishes her shift at the DEO and stops by the tower to deliver some Big Belly Burger to try to keep morale high.
"Have you thought about shapeshifting?" Kelly asks J'onn.
"We have tried that before with a different hostage situation. He had been stalking us, specifically Alex for months so we could get his dad out of prison, in exchange for Alex's life." J'onn replies.
"He had me in a tank that at a set timer, luckily Maggie, Kara and J'onn were able to get me out."
"Could he have something to do with this?" Kelly asks.
"Doubt it. I erased his mind.." J'onn says before getting interrupted by Alex.
"And last time I checked he was rotting in a cell just like he deserves."
Around thirty minutes later, Kelly and Alex leave to go pick up Esme from daycare. Then J'onn goes home.
"We will find her Lena, until then stay strong."
"Thank you." Lena says looking up from her spell book. At around 9 pm, I decide that standing around and looking around the daxamite database is of no use. I couldn't be anymore helpful. I look around the room, with Lena reading pages over and over, and Nia asleep on the couch, with Brainy equally as tired sitting next to her. I walk over to Lena.
"Hey, I am going to walk with Brainy to Nia and Brainy's apartment and head home. Could you watch over Nia. You know if you want, we could all go home. You need rest, we all do." I say as she looks up at me. Her face looks drained, she looks so stressed.
"I am gonna stay here until Dreamer wakes up, and then I will get her home."
"Tomorrow, we will go get Henry Long and see what he knows. He probably knows something."
"Deal." Lena gives me a half-hearted smile as I walk over to Brainy and say,
"Hey, let's go home."
"But Nia.."
"Lena's got her. Brainy in order to save Marie, we all need rest." I take Brainy's hand and we walk to the balcony.
"Goodnight Lena," I turn around, "and for the record, I love you too."
Quick lil writers note-this is one of the shorter chapters but I promise you they will get longer.
