It was a sunny and hot afternoon. Giyuu Tomioka, the water pillar, was on his way to a meeting.
He was called by his crow Kanzaburou. Giyuu was walking fast and his katana right by his side. He could almost see Ubuyashiki-senseis headquarters.
Suddenly his crow landed on his head and he heard this to high pitched voice. It belonged to no other than Shinobu Kocho.
“Ara-Ara Tomioka-san. That’s a surprise to see you this early. Normally you’re to late.” She teased the water pillar.
Giyuu just ignored the insect pillar and keeps walking further.
They keep walking together in an uncomfortable silence. The only noise is the slightly lighter footsteps from Shinobu and the heavier from Giyuu.
They reach the gate and the door opens. The other hashiras are already there. There is Mitsuri Kanroji, who’s simping for the wind pillar Sanemi Shinazuguwa.
He’s reckless and already got new scars. Obanai Iguru is sitting in his usual spot. He’s talking to his snake and Obanai’s heterochromia eyes are only focused on his snake.
Muichiro Tokito a very mysterious man, he’s staring at the different shaded spotless sky.
Tengen Uzui, Kyojuro Rengoku and Gyomei Himejima are loudly talking to each other.
Tomioka is now standing alone, because Shinobu is greeting everyone.
The water pillar has turned his head to the side, because he doesn’t want to get to close to the other hashiras. He doesn’t want to get attached again, his heart wouldn’t take it.
Not after the death of Sabito and his sister Tsutako. Sure, he doesn’t have the best social skills, but their words still hurt. Why can’t they understand?
He does that to protect himself. He’s trying to survive. Giyuu try’s to get over his lost, but how could he when ther’s always someone to remind him how lonely he is.
The others from his hometown in the north even called him insane! He’s just broken and trying to rebuild his confidence, trust issues and mostly his love for himself and others.
But there were so many broken and heavy pieces. It’s difficult to live his life when you don’t know what to do with it. He just needs someone to guide him, someone to rely on.
He’s shaken out of his dark thoughts by the burning hand on his shoulder. It burns, it must go away.
He visibly flinches and the hand returns to his owner. He looks up to a concern looking Rengoku.
He opens, with all his strength, his mouth and thanks Rengoku quietly. He realizes how much times has passed and quickly turned to bow down.
The master was already there. He cursed himself multiple times in his head. The master asked everyone about their currently finished missions.
Suddenly he says something shocking. “My children, I have an important mission for everyone of you. Please go to the north town near the Sagiri Mountain. There are recently demon attacks. They attack brides. An investigation is already in the process but we don’t know a thing. So please my children go and slay the demon.”
It would be a lie if he said he wasn’t scared. He didn’t want to go back, never again he made a promise.
He’s so scared. What if they recognize him? What if he broke down? The hashiras can’t know.
His face darked, but of course no one noticed. Whit heavy and sloppy steps he walked to the other hashiras and began their 3 day journey to the Sagiri mountain.
The sky wasn’t as bright as it used to be once.
