Nick Shepard

I'm sitting on the edge of my bed, thinking about everything that went down these past couple of days. Everything with Andy put such a sour feeling in my body. Not Andy herself, but everything that she told me. All that shit that happened with Dominic made me feral and all the more pissed. I've always been protective when it came to the women in my life. I was a mama's body for sure while I was growing up. I would do anything and everything for her because I wanted to make her happy. Then it was with Jace's mother. I thought I loved her when we were dating. I put all my time and effort on her and when I discovered that she was pregnant with my child, I wanted to do more. I worked hard to provide for us. For our future family. But she didn't seem to care for me in the slightest. She never allowed me to go with her to the doctors for checkups. She would always turn back to gifts I gave her for our unborn child saying that she didn't need it or me. I just thought that it was the stress of being pregnant but I soon realized that she never cared about me. So I stopped trying.

I was hurt to say the least. I gave up on relationships and just focused on my needs as well as my sons. I rarely saw him after he was born. His mother took me to court and demanded full custody. I fought her day in and out to at least have shared custody over our child, but the judge took pity on my ex girlfriends fake tears and gave her full custody. I only saw Jace a few times a year up until he was thirteen when he decided that he wanted nothing to do with me. I was crushed, I won't lie. It's like everyone in my life just wanted nothing to do with me. Everyone just wanted me to leave. I was more than happy when Jace showed up at my doorstep wanting a do-over. I knew he was still pissed about whatever the fuck his bitch of a mother said to him about me but I was relived when he wanted to see me. So I taught him everything I knew about cars and racing. That's the only thing he uses me for and I can't say that I'm upset about it. At least I can see him.

Looking over my shoulder, my muscles relax when I see Andy snuggled up against my pillow and sleeping peacefully. A small smile appears on my lips when I lean down to kiss her forehead.

"Please don't leave me."

Her words were like a grenade that blew up inside me with all these emotions that I haven't felt in nearly two decades. She wants me in her life. She wants me to be with her. I haven't felt wanted in so long that I thought I'd never remember what it felt like to be I don't know....loved?

She moans in her sleep and nuzzles closer to my pillow that I was sleeping on. Her bare back shown in the dark room with the sheets covering just below her waist. Her milky skin is like silk in my rough hands when I hold her or touch her. She's so young but her mind has matured from the years of pain she's been through.

I stand up from the bed and pull up a pair a jeans before leaving my bedroom. It's almost six in the morning so I call up Connor's brother, knowing he's awake.

"Andrew's speaking."

"Hey man, it's Nick." I say through the phone. There's a few seconds of silence before I hear his deep chuckle.

"Well I be damned. I haven't seen you in what? Years? How you been?" He asks me with a smile in his voice.

"Could be better." I tell him honestly, "I actually need your help. Legally."

"You in trouble?"

"No, not me. My..." My what? Girlfriend? We haven't had that conversation yet but I know that I don't plan on being with anyone else.
