Deku's Past

Trigger warning! Topic: Verbal Abuse.

"Make yourself comfortable Bakugo. This will probably take a while" Kiri sat down on the couch in Katsuki's office and ran his fingers through his hair.  He hoped that he wasn't breaking Deku's trust by sharing this personal information. 

"Hey Babe! I thought we were taking Deku out for lunch as a thank you for fixing our app, but I just saw him taking off in your car" Denki said looking confused.

"Denki, come take a seat next to Bakugo. There's something you both need to know about Deku. This stays in this room. This is an extremely private matter. Got it?" Kiri said looking at them sharply.

"What's about Deku, Kiri?".

"Where to begin....Denki, there is a reason you've never spent the night at my place. This will explain everything. Ok". He took a deep breath. "Deku has Dissociative Identity Disorder. More popularly known as a split personality".

"What?!" Denki said looking shocked.

"Denki, please keep your comments and questions until the end please". Denki blushed but kept quiet.

"I'll start from the beginning. When Deku was born his mother died from complications from giving birth. The death of his wife was devastating to Deku's dad. He ended up blaming his son for his wife's passing. If not for his aunt, Deku would have died from neglect. She kept him until he was 5, but she got sick and couldn't take care of him any longer. So Deku ended up back at his dads house".

"Deku's dad, David, was never physically or sexually abusive with Deku, but verbally. He would scream and yell at him every damn day. Telling him he was worthless, a loser and a murderer.  Deku use to stay at my place almost every night.  If he wasn't with me he stayed at our other friend Mina's house.  Our parents loved him and didn't mind.  We made excuses as to why he wasn't living at home.  I suspect our parents knew, but they never said anything.

"Mika first appeared in middle school. She is Deku's coping mechanism when he is scared or stressed. Deku is the main personality, but Mika is the more aggressive one. She is the protector. One night, when David had gotten drunk, he hit Deku and Mika switched with him. She hit her dad over the head with a bottle of vodka. His dad had to go to the hospital and Deku was removed from his home".

"Deku came to live with me and Mika hardly showed up anymore. It wasn't until college when she showed up again. The stress from all his classes and learning code got to him. The biggest problem was that Mika would show up anytime Deku felt even a little bit stressed. She's brash and flirtatious, and that caused problems with Deku's classmates. The last straw came when Mika ended up sleeping with one of  Deku's college professors".

"After that happened, Deku started going to therapy and I moved in with him. I'm his caregiver/best friend/brother. With the help of his therapist, Deku and Mika came to an understanding. Deku gets the day and Mika gets the night".

"Deku has no memories of his time when Mika is in control and the same goes for Mika. They keep journals and write in them each day. Bakugo, you were with Mika last night, not Deku. I can totally understand your confusion and anger, but it's not Deku or Mika's fault".

"Let me get this straight. Deku and Mika are two different personalities, but in the same body?" Katsuki was floored. It all made sense now. His stomach dropped when he realized he had scared Deku so badly that his alternate showed up.

"Bakugo. Both Mika and Deku are attracted to you. If you have any interest in a relationship with them I will give you his therapist's business card. He can help you navigate how to deal with someone with this disorder. I'm not gonna lie. It won't be easy, but I love them both and they are really good people".

"Mika threatened to break my arm" Katsuki grumbled.

"She has a black belt in Krav Maga. Like I said, she's the protector. Bakugo, there is no cure. Deku and Mika will always be together".

Katsuki sat and thought hard about what Kiri had said. Could he be with Deku and Mika? One is shy and sweet and the other a sexy hell cat. Looking Kiri in the eyes he came to a decision.

"Hey Kiri, Give me that business card".
