I totally think that the saying « don't judge a book by its cover » is overrated.
Judge the cover
It's the art that speaks to our soul that makes a difference
The art that catches our eye and hooks on our interests
Peaking our senses
In order to pick it up
completely transfixed
Analyze the art on the cover
Feel the pages of the book
Or the energy radiating from the screen
Trusting that the cover is telling you the full story and accepting the surprise is what reading is about
Accepting that because the art is so good, the words have to be better is ok
It's more than ok
Kids don't understand depth and meaning
They love colours and representation
So plaster that on your cover and trust that it'll find the one that is meant to be
Leave the book with its own identity
Literally
I can't say the same for people
But for books...
Judge the cover
