Notes: Luz's pronouns are they/them in this fan-fiction. I decided to make them non-binary, because I never seem to find any nblw couples. Additionally, Luz doesn't give the vibes of a girl to me, so I decided to make that change. Yes, I know that this detail isn't exactly canon to the show, but then again this is my story and not yours so I can do what I want to with it haha. Anyways without further adu, please enjoy this fanfic :>

The leaves rustle in the wind as Amity approaches Luz's house. She is clutching onto a book about abominations. It's the third one that she read that week. Her parents want her to expand her knowledge on her family's special magic style. Amity, on the other hand, would much rather be rereading The Good Witch Azura, but she must follow her parent's wishes. Who knows what will happen if she disobeys them. It's definitely something she isn't hastily trying to figure out, that's for sure.

"Luuzzzz, you thereee?" Amity loudly shouts, glancing through all of the house's windows.

"Go away, I'm trying to sleep!" screams a highly frustrated owl.

"Hooty is Luz home? We were going to read together in the park," Amity asks, slightly irritable. She knows exactly what the owl's going to say next, yet it seems to grow more and more annoying every time she hears it.

Hooty sighs upsettingly, "Yeah she's home...you never come to visit me; it's always Luz this and Luz that and blah blah blah-"

"Oh hi Amity, you're right on time!!" The door smashes open revealing a rather cheerful Luz Noceda.

"YOU'RE PAYING FOR MY REPAIRS AMITY!!" Hooty screams, practically strangling the green-haired girl with it's words.

Luz rolls their eyes, "Oh shut it you stupid door."

"I'M NOT A STUPID-"

Eda, annoyed with all the commotion coming from a certain owl, slams the front door shut.

Amity and Luz glance at each other for a moment, before bursting out in fits of giggles. Once calmed down, the pair start their walk to their favorite hill. Though the Boiling Isles seems to be brimming with life and noise, their special area is simply peace and quiet. The two of them are able to enjoy total privacy away from school, their families, life in general.

Luz breathes in the scent of fresh air, happy to spend time in such a calm and private place with their best friend. Their little secret. "Soooo, what book is it today? Ooo let me guess, umm ... is it Abominations, Volume XVI?" Luz asks in a mocking manner.

"Oh stop it, it's not that bad ... is it?" Amity asks, in a slightly worryful tone. She plops down onto the grass, and is followed by Luz shortly after.

The two of them stretch their legs out in front of them. For a brief moment the world around them is silent. Just two friends enjoying the other's company.

Luz then turns to Amity. "Nah it's not weird at all," they reassure. "It's just a little strange to me why you keep reading books like that ... we both know that you find them boring. I just don't get it." Luz runs their fingers through their hair, confused on the matter.
