Bai Qingqing said decisively, "Then forget it. You can dig it come next spri… light rainy season. There will be a higher chance it will survive."

Curtis stroked Bai Qingqing's head dotingly, not saying a word.

Feeling jealous of their interaction, Parker squeezed between the two of them. "Qingqing, what would you like to eat today? I'll go and catch it."

"It's raining so heavily. I'll eat whatever you manage to catch. Anything is fine," Bai Qingqing said.

"… Oh." The pitiful Parker was sent away the instant he managed to buŧŧ his way into their conversation.

After lunch, Curtis came up with some excuse to head out of the city to relieve himself but didn't return even at night.

Parker was preparing to close the door, when Bai Qingqing said worriedly, "Let's wait a little longer. Curtis isn't back yet."

Parker closed the door mercilessly and said angrily, "That fellow must have gone to dig the thorny fruits."

He felt so aggrieved. Clearly, it was something he used to please Qingqing, yet the snake beastman snatched it away from him.

"Ah?" Bai Qingqing's delicate brows furrowed as she pouted. "I already told him not to go. It's so dangerous entering the mountains while it's raining."

"Don't worry about him. He has been living in the mountains all along. There's no way he'd get into danger." Parker's expression became sunny as he spoke. He suddenly rushed up to Bai Qingqing and lifted her horizontally from behind.

Bai Qingqing let out a gasp of surprise. She raised her head and found herself staring at Parker's face, causing her heart to beat furiously. She pounded on his ċhėst and said, "What are you doing? You've startled me."
