"There was an explosion in Piltover. Four kids spotted at the scene."
It has been a few years since that horrific day down at the river. The memory of Silco still remains fresh to this day. She searched for him for months on end, enlisting the help of Sevika and others loyal to her. They had been unsuccessful, coming to the conclusion that Silco is truly dead and that they had been chasing a ghost the whole time. Once that second year passed, the pain from his absence can da grew to be a dull throb.
Mayve mourns his loss every day, paying tribute to him in her daily life. She will never forget him or what they had.
Mayve hasn't forgiven Vander for what he did that day. She only stays at The Last Drop for Violet and Powder. Her relationship with Vander has grown increasingly more solid over the years, but it will never be what it once was. Mayve doesn't know how to trust him anymore, but that doesn't mean she can't live with him.
A bombing in Piltover. Of course, and today of all days.
She sighs, immediately knowing the culprits capable of causing such an event. "What do you need me to do?"
Mayve still abhors Vander's deal with Enforcer Grayson. She doesn't agree with it and hopes they can come to some kind of compromise significantly more beneficial for the people of Zaun, but her gut tells her that course of action might be unlikely. She grabs the neck of a bottle from the bottom shelf and pours a few drinks for the customers sitting at the bar.
Vander shakes his head. "Don't worry about it, May. I've got it covered."
For his sake, hers, and the rest of those living in the Undercity, Mayve hopes he will find a way out of this. She swears up and down Mylo and Claggor are bad influences on those girls. As a group they have always gotten into trouble. Significantly more trouble than they're worth. Sometimes they would come home with bruises and scrapes. Never a broken bone, but that could change any day. Their disturbances have grown more with each passing year. It was only a matter of time before they pulled something too big for them to handle.
This is one of those times.
Mayve and Vander keep up their lax personas, not tolerating wandering eyes to decipher their true feelings. This incident needs to have been resolved yesterday, before it could have ever happened. Already the news is spreading fast. Mayve can hear the whispers.
She takes a towel and wipes down the counter. It's thrown into a bin near her feet. Her nerves start to eat at her. Those kids should walk through those double doors anytime now. The suspense might make Mayve go gray.
One of their usual customers, a short, thin man with brown spectacles and his hair up in a pony tail orders two pints of ale. Mayve pours them, Vander hands them over with a kind smile. Huck returns it.
Mayve watches him walk back towards one of the dimly lit booths nearly spilling the liquid on someone and bumping into a pool table player. He places one of the drinks on the table in front of the traders, keeping the other for himself. She knows of the transaction that is supposed to take place and the amount to be payed in full. According to Huck's displeased expression, he isn't satisfied with the lack of coin. He shoves the pouch back towards the traders. Some of the coins escape the bag, one rolls loose.
A large man with a dark beard and a bald head sits opposite Huck, his intimidating stature causing the significantly smaller man to feel uneasy. The traders attempt to lessen their end of the deal. The woman to his right, beautiful with purple dreads and yellow eyes stabs the empty center of the coin with her knife, holding his fearful attention.
