Kayla

She gave a little moan of contentment as Rick ran an oily hand down her spine. She wondered if she could teach Jace to do this. It felt amazing. "If I'm still single in a month, we'll have to do this again."

Rick gave a sexy growl of agreement. "But are you even going to be able to look me in the eye, tomorrow?"

She sighed. "Probably not, but in a month all of this will seem like a very good idea."

"How about two weeks and next time we do your kink?"

Did she have a kink? There was a thing she wanted to make Jace do, but she didn't think it would be the same with Rick. "I don't know. I'm not going to find Mr. Right if I'm fooling around with Mr. Right Now."

"Can I give you some wisdom from my extensive life experience? I know it tends to upset you."

She didn't answer for a moment, reveling in the feel of his hands as they worked down her body. "Let me guess: forget the boyfriend search and become your 'fried with benefits'?"

"Ah, I guess you don't need my wisdom."

"A bit self-serving, don't you think?"

"Well, the FWB part is your idea, but I like the way you think."

"So, you don't think I should be looking for a boyfriend?"

"I just know that it's nearly impossible to mesh with someone while you're still hung up on someone else."

"I'm not hung up on anyone." She wondered what had given him that idea.

"There's someone I'm sharing your head space with."

That was ridiculous. The only person she had even thought about was Jace. She couldn't actually have feelings for him, could she?

"Ah, see," Rick said as he came up to lay down beside her, "I've upset you again."

"I can't be in love with him. We've never even dated." Was she wasting her time searching, when what she really wanted was Jace?

"Just because you don't want it to be the case, doesn't mean it isn't."

"Ugh." The physical was so important to her, and Jace seemed so hopeless in that category. Could he even be taught? She wasn't the type to cheat when he failed to meet her needs, so she would just be miserable.

But she knew Rick was right. She had to resolve whatever this was with Jace. If she could just find him.

Jace

Jace woke up in the back of one of the Ranch Suburbans, a scrap of blanket he shared with Page covering them both from the waist down. They were still naked, Page beside him, her hands behind her head as she stared at the ceiling.

"Morning," he said.

"Hey, Jace. I'm sorry about this."

"Sorry you slept with me?"

"Yeah. Let's hope Chrissy doesn't find out about this. I'm such an asshole." She sighed and turned toward him with her he'd propped on an elbow.

Chrissy wasn't the one making him feel guilty. But Page was naked, beautiful, and laying right beside him. "So, we're not doing this again?"

She gave a bitter smile. "Jace, I wasn't interested in you at all, and Chrissy really likes you. But when I found out you had a girlfriend you were trying to be loyal to, I had to prove I could make you cheat." She sighed. "But you don't even have a girlfriend."

"What makes you say that?" He hadn't been so out of it that he'd have forgotten mentioning Kayla.

"Jace, not only do you not have a girlfriend, you've never had one. You don't even know how to kiss, let alone any of that other stuff you tried."

"So, I'm bad at sex?" He had a sinking feeling deep in his core.

"Hey, it's ok. No one is good their first time."

Had the transcendent experience he'd had with Kayla been something else entirely for her? "Be honest with me. Am I just not good, or ...?"

She cringed, pausing before she answered. "I had way more fun after you fell asleep." His face betrayed his emotions, because she added, "It's really ok. I shouldn't be messing with a teenager, anyway. But why did you lie to Chrissy? I know you like her."

"I wasn't lying. There's this girl, Kayla, and ..." He went on, telling her everything. He could hear it in his story, the way he stretched the truth to make him sound less like a fool. But thinking about Kayla made him miss her, worry about her.

When he finished, Page was scowling at him. "No offense, Jace, because I know you love her and all, but Kayla is a queen bitch." He started to protest, but she wouldn't hear it. "She's been using you for years, which is bad enough, but when you know someone is in love with you, you do not sleep with them just because you wake up horny."

Any further argument was cut short as the rear door of the truck was pulled open, Chuck standing there looking in.

"Welp, fun's over. Morning Chuck." She didn't seem embarrassed or attempt to cover up.

"Page. Jace." The only reaction to his grandson's presence was a slight rise in one eyebrow. "I've got a group requesting the Big Four tour starting tomorrow. You up for that?"

"Sure, Chuck. Can I take Jace with me?"

Chuck measured Jace for a moment. "Sure. You can teach him a thing or two."

And just like that, Chuck was gone. Jace felt panicked and mortified at having been caught with her.

Page didn't care at all. "Relax. Chuck and I have been over for a long time."

It took Jace a second to process that. "Wait, you and him?"

She rolled her eyes. "No, because it would be totally weird and creepy to sleep with both someone and their grandson."

"But he's, like, seventy."

"Well, he wasn't seventy at the time." She finally showed a hint of embarrassment.

"Well, how old were you, then?"

"Ok, we're done talking about this. We'll be out for six days. I'll try to teach you what I can, and when we get back you're going to give Chrissy the summer romance she deserves."

"Page, I don't know---"

"That's ok, Jace. I'm not asking."
