A week later // 2:01 AM
Viktor stayed up, he laid awake for days on end until his eyes would get weak enough to let him rest.
But even as he did, his mind still conjured up images of Y/n in his dreams, especially after Jayce made the joke of the her possibly being a witch in form of a beautiful girl just a few days before this one.
He brushed the comment off, but for some irritable reason, it stayed with him..
As if he was stuck in a small room with nothing but a single candlelight and a black tar oozing on the floor in which no matter the strength he put into separating himself from the torturous glue, he was unable to do so.
She's just a mere girl.. a woman now most likely...
The towns rumours of the forest had just gotten into his head, and he seemed to unwillingly let it.
His fingers danced against his stomach, his button up undone and his black pants and shoes remaining on as he was far too lazy to change that day.
Sighing hopelessly, Viktor stood up from his bed, reaching for his cane as he stepped out of his room to catch some air, maybe grab some bread from the kitchen to snack on.
If he was going to stay awake thinking that night, he might as well have the tense joints in his body let loose in the mean time.
He got to the kitchen, rather quickly as he'd taken the back spiral stairs instead of the grand embellishing ones in the main hall that might've taken him ages to get down considering the amount of steps it had.
Once getting there, one of the maids had suggested she make him some dinner and have him sit in the dining room, but Viktor only asked for some bread and thanked her for the offer.
The old woman smiled at him as she took her leave and Viktor sat down on a wooden stool that has seen better days, resting his head on the counter for a moment before taking a bite out of his bread.
"Viktor hun.." The sweet voice called behind him.
The brunette hadn't needed to turn around to know it was his adoptive mother.
She sat next to him, on a similar stool and imbedded her fingers into his hair as she brushed it lovingly.
Viktor sighed, letting her do so as he continued to eat his bread with a pout.
"Not getting much sleep either are you?" She smiled and rested her head on the counter, pulling away to use her arms as a pillow.
"Mm I've had better nights.. why do you keep yourself up tonight?" He said in a playful tone, trying to think of what queen duties she needed to get so urgently done that she was not in her large, comfortable bed.
"Ever since your father left Viktor.. I have been awake most nights, up until I fall asleep at least, wondering if he'll ever come back" she sighed.
Viktor pursed his lips, his brows knitting in hearing her confession.
"By the way dear, I'm sure you'd be thrilled to hear that the neighbouring kingdoms princess is coming here in order to meet with you tomorrow.." Mrs. Talis informed, pulling an envelope out of her robe and passing it over to Viktor.
She seemed to be just as exhausted with the most woman as much as Viktor was, irritated with the amount of letters she gets asking for help in persuading her eldest son for marriage.
