Or Did It All Happen In Another World?

Quick note: This is my first story ever written and it took about 8 months to finish.

We all know about teenage love, how it begins and how it ends. it changes people. This is a story about me, Mercury, a ghost who fell in love with a human.

It was 2:52am when I decided to go roam around town. I was thinking about messing around in peoples' houses for fun. I saw a modern-looking villa about a street far so I flew over and went through a wall which I assumed was the office. I saw a guy typing on a computer for some reason although I thought people go to sleep at this kind of time. Anyways there was a big pile of papers next to him. I held up the papers then threw them around the room, the guy was terrified. The way he jumped up and started screaming, priceless. I thought maybe this time I should actually just roam around.

As I flew around it started to rain. I personally love rain, the sound it makes when it reaches the ground, the wind it causes, just the whole vibe. I stood there, mesmerized as I looked at the moon. It was such a beautiful night. As I watched the night the word "love" came up to my head. I thought to myself: What if one day I fall in love with a human? I promised myself that I won't fall in love.

It stopped raining as I got up and decided to check out peoples' houses again. As I was walking around, I couldn't help but notice the word "love" kept reciting in my head. It sounded like a song at some point.. Few minutes later, I found myself standing in front of a white mansion that was topped off with an orange-reddish roof. I went through the roof which led me to an old-looking attic. It was dark up here, very dusty as well.

I went down stairs and found myself stood up in front of a tall bluish-grey door. I entered the room and saw a young boy, I'd say he looked 18, he had brown curly hair, he looked so peaceful. I never felt this way near anyone, it kind of creeped me out. I sat there for a few minutes just admiring his beauty. Suddenly, he woke up and sat up on his bed looking at me. He had beautiful blue eyes, they were so beautiful I could get lost looking at them. He leaned his back forward as the moonlight started reflecting on his eyes. I was relieved since I was a ghost and humans can't see me but that didn't last for long. He kept staring at me until he decided to speak, "Hello? Who are you?" he asked. I wasn't being able to process what was going on. How was he able to see me? Am I dreaming? What is going on.?

I stuttered to reply but I couldn't help but ask: "You can see me?" He rubbed his eyes, took a glare at me again and nodded saying: "Am I not supposed to?" I replied: "Yeah.. I'm a ghost." He looked at me in shock but his face was confusing, it's like he expected what I was going to say but at the same time it's like he was on another planet, confused, shocked, lost...

I explained: "Okay uh, this is going to sound crazy since humans don't think we exist but I'm Mercury, I'm a 17 year old ghost and I was just here admiring how pretty you looked under the moonlight." He chuckled and said: "Well Mercury, you are one beautiful ghost. I'm Xavier also 17, don't know what else to say.. But um nice to meet you." I, I didn't know what to say either but the words kind of tumbled out of my mouth: "If you want I could leave, I'm really sorry I was just kind of mesmerized.." I stuttered. "You have really pretty eyes.." The words came out of my mouth without control. I zoned out. Few seconds later I heard Xavier say my name asking what I was mesmerized by. I was mesmerized by him. The whole idea of him, how pretty he is, how he was able to see me. I shook my head and replied: "How you were able to see me." He looked me in the eye for a few second and got up saying: "Touch me, I want to make sure I'm not dreaming." I looked at him in confusion: "What?" "Do it, I want to see if I can feel it." I was confused but I did what he asked. I heard that if someone was dreaming you should pinch them to make sure they are so I did. Xavier smiled and looked back at me while the moonlight caught his eye again. I've been around many people, but this one was different. He said: "Guess I really am looking at a beautiful ghost."
