I'm Lily, an average office worker with permanent bags under her eyes. I live my worthless life away in autopilot mode and I waste my money away in stupid shit I'll probably never use. Nothing too out of the ordinary.
My friend Rebecca pulled me out of my house to go out and eat and enjoy a casual get-together, rather than staying home and binge watching some sappy drama and eating junk food. lucky for her, she actually has her life together and she manages to do some extroverted stuff like travelling and all, I don't really know what extroverts do.
We both sat in a random café that was recommended to her by the internet. It was newly opened and had a small but cozy feel to it, perfect for the winter.
"I really liked how that novel ended, it took some time for me to really get interested in it, but it was worth the read. The heroine gave me second-hand embarrassment throughout the book though", Rebecca talked about a romance novel while she mixed her drink with a straw.
"Uh huh, is that so?", I made a remark.
"Well, What's new in your life? Ofcourse other than working and lazing around all day", she asked with a hint of annoyance in the last sentence.
"uhhhh I fell in the bathroom yesterday, that was the closest feeling I had to a fracture"
"I asked if there was anything interesting in your life, not about just how clumsy you are", she said with an irritated expression.
"sadly you big meanie, I live a very boring and uneventful life, unlike you. I don't have any hobbies, pets, vacations, talents or a love life", I stated with a dead look in my eyes.
"so all you need is a love life huh? Well don't you worry, I have some great selections of people for you" she said as she fetched a phone out of her bag.
"hey, this girl suits you a lot, what do you think about her? She is very beautiful, has a peppy and energetic personality, a huge following in social media. All in all, she's pretty perfect, right?" she asked while showing me a photo of a blondie on her phone.
'oh wait, what about him? He's a colleague of mine, I think you have met him before. He's pretty shy but opens up pretty quickly. Believe me, he's a very sweet guy" she said as she swiped her phone to show me another picture.
"oh yeah, I am always there, you can just choose me" Rebecca tucked her pretty red hair behind her ear and pointed towards herself.
I looked at her face gaping, trying to find some hint of a joke.
She waived her hands as she said "I was kidding about the last one! Don't worry, I was kidding about the last one"
"right..."
"you know I am straight"
I looked at her with a suspicious gaze and said, "right..."
I took a deep breath and said "I am not going to start dating any random person that u think is nice, I plan on living my stupid and uneventful life as it is, just let this homebody be a homebody. I am not getting a lover anytime soon, alright?"
"fine, fine, I give up" Rebecca said as she sighed.
Suddenly a sweet voice said, "umm I think I left my wallet at this table, sorry but can you please let me look for it"
