Hey, lovelies! I finished this chapter this morning, yay! ^-^ Please read this introduction (you don't have to read the first 5 paragraphs if you don't want to) for the key and a bit of an explanation on how this chapter is set up!

I think it helped that I typed most of it up yesterday morning (in between 2,000 to 2200 words in one sitting) and I was editing it during my breaks at work (I got it up 2500 to 2700 words). I then got home and edited it a bit more (getting it to 2972 words last I checked).

These estimates are through Google Docs, Wattpad said that I only had 2700 words in this chapter.

Either way, sorry for the shorter chapter than normal. For some reason, I can't quite hit 3000 words in this story but I have 7718 words overall written through Google Docs which averages each chapter at about 2573 words, so that's not too bad.

(Again, through Google Docs.)

I think this story needs chapters that are a bit shorter, I think it just adds character and confusion to the story.

Other than me apologizing for the length of these chapters: (IMPORTANT)

I want to say that you will see a lot of the same scenes over and over again, though each time, they're going to be a bit different.

Yes, my goal is to work up to a full dream-memory chapter that explains 100% what happened before Tanjiro got turned.

Yes, you may see the same scene twice in one chapter.

Yes, you will see baby Tanjiro at some point and yes those scenes will also be repeated as he remembers more about himself and his past.

I want to say more, but that's a manga and this story spoiler so I'm just gonna leave this here to tease y'all 8P

The key to this story is this: (IMPORTANT)

Italics without quotation marks are either thoughts or a memory. If it's in between two em-dashes (--), then it's an action that he remembers (usually only one or two short sentences.

Italics inside quotation marks are dialogue that Tanjiro remembers.

Bold Italics are thoughts inside a dream/memory. Tanjiro doesn't necessarily remember these thoughts. Bold italics can also point to Tanjiro's new personality.

Bold is... well, that's a spoiler. Feel free to give me your theories and ideas!

The advanced key to this story is (lol, just joking but this part IS IMPORTANT):

A single emdash (-) at the beginning of a scene indicates a TIMESKIP or a simple SCENE CHANGE that doesn't fit inside the triple emdash (---). A single emdash (-) inside text indicates a split word (i.e. red-head).

A double emdash (--) is used inside of paragraphs -- a type of additonal information, if you will.

A triple emdash (---) indicates Tanjiro in either A DREAM-MEMORY SCENE or END DREAM-MEMORY SCENE. Just because Tanjiro is in a dream-memory scene, doesn't mean he remembers everything. Refer to the key above to see what certain empasises mean in this story.

If I put triple emdashes (---) after an introduction, then the chapter starts off in a dream-memory scene.

A quindriple emdash (-----) is used after an introduction or after the story to divide the story from an author's note. I may used more than five emdashes, but it means the same for each story that I make ^-^
