"I-I don't know what happened." Edd stammered. "I blacked out, but, if I had to guess, another form took over my body."
"That's your demon form, Edd." Charlie explained. "Every demon has one. You learn to control it after a while."
"But...that's the thing. I can't control it." Edd murmured. "It tends to happen in moments of great anger. I outlash in the worst ways possible, and until I control it, I might even end up killing somebody."

Tucked away in a hidden room of the hotel, Charlie was consoling Edd about his sudden outburst at Alastor. He didn't know what he did, but he left Alastor stunned at best. Edd just felt like Matt was being used for Alastor's own evil, and he wouldn't stand for it.

"If I see Matt being manipulated one more time, I swear, I will go mentally insane." Edd grumbled. He clenched his hand into a fist, digging his claws into his hand.
"Edd, I will do what I can to help you." Charlie spoke in a comforting tone.
Edd's mouth contorted into a slight smile. His jet black eyes looked at Charlie and he whispered, "Thanks, Charlie."

Suddenly, a small demon with a single eye scuttled up to Charlie. She looked as if she had come out a time machine from the 1950s, since her hair and her outfit came from that era.
"Miss Charlie, I've finished cleaning the cobwebs in the corners of the rooms. What should I do next?" she asked.
"How about you take a break, Niffty? Working all the time isn't healthy, you know." Charlie advised, picking her up and plopping her next to her.

"Hey, who's the new guy?" Niffty asked.
"Oh, I'm Edd." Edd greeted. "Hey, you look adorable! Like I could put you into my pocket or something."
Niffty gasped, "He thinks I'm adorable!" as her pupil turned heart-shaped, much to Edd's confusion.
"Uh...does she normally do this?" he questioned.
"Oh, don't mind her. She does this to every guy she sees." Charlie explained.
"Um, look, Niffty...I've literally just met you. So, maybe just wait on having a relationship with me. We can still be friends, if you like." Edd compromised. Niffty stayed very thoughtful for a second before stating, "Good enough."

Suddenly, Niffty jumped off the seat and scurried away.
"Wha- Niffty, where are you going?!" Charlie exclaimed.
"Break's over! I'm going to polish the floor!" Niffty called, her voice growing quieter as she rushed away.
"There's no helping some people." Charlie grumbled, supporting her chin with her hands.
"Tell me about it." Edd replied. "I tried to change Tom's ways for the better when I was alive. It didn't work, but, nowadays, I look back on those days and I laugh about it."

All of a sudden, Edd felt really nostalgic. His mind filled with reminiscent thoughts of the old times, back when it was him, Matt, Tom and Tord against the world.
"You know, back when we were alive, Matt was always a bit more unlucky than us." Edd, spoke, his mind drifting down a river of memories. "He always seemed to get into trouble one way or another, wether it was him not listening, him being stupid, or just plain bad luck. However, whenever we saved him, he was always so grateful, no matter how many times he escaped the clutches of death. Heh. Good times."

"Sounds like he had quite a life." Charlie remarked, fascinated of these tales of crazy.
"Yeah, but now I'm worried he's throwing his afterlife away." Edd whispered, his tone turning worried. "It's clear that Alastor's manipulating him, and who knows what will happen if this continues."
"Edd, don't worry." Charlie murmured, putting her hand on his shoulder. "I'm always here to help you, and, I promise, we'll get Matt back to normal."
