Nothing but pleasant warmth.
No pain.
But voices."My love."
"My love."
"Mum? Dad?" I turned around but I'm alone.
"Will you ever understand it?"
"Will I make it back to the other side?" I asked my mum, even though I couldn't see her.
"Of course, my darling. You're a strong girl."
I shook my head "I almost died the day I lost you two. But I kept breathing."
"You kept breathing."
"Of course she did. All these years she never gave up."
Once again I turned around, but still I stood alone, in the flower meadow where I always was with Mum. "Maria?"
"We're all here, darling." I looked back. "I want to hug you, but I can't, can I? Not until I get myself -"
My dad just smiled and shook his head.
I looked at my sister, "Why are you here?"
"You know the answer Li."
"So you didn't get out in time like you promised me?"
"No, I couldn't leave you and Sina alone. Not after-"
"Why didn't you let the fireman save you?"
"He was alone. I had a choice. Either he saved me or both of you. So-"
I interrupted her, "Will I ever understand it?"
"You didn't have to."
"Maybe when you're older."
"Just promise me one thing, will you?" dad ask "You keep breathing."
"But I didn't want to.I miss you," I cried and saw a sad smile on my parents' lips.
"And I know I'll miss you even more than Mum and Dad. Maria, you were there for me after the car accident, but who is it now? Whenever I mentioned even a little bit that I missed them, you already made me Mum's famous apple pie. Who will watch movies with me in the evening and just let me cry while you hug me. I know we haven't done this for ages since you took me to Mrs Claire's but I'd give anything to do it for one more night." I can see tears rolling down her cheek.
"You've all gone and you're not coming back." I smiled "but I'll keep breathing."
"You will keep breathing."
"No matter what happend."
I looked at them one last time to memorising every little detail, afraid to forget what they looked like, before closing my eyes.
"Sinus rhythm we've got her back"

"I need a hug," April sighed as Jackson approached her. He took her hand and led her into one of the on-call rooms.
After the door fell into the lock, he wrapped his arms around April and she buried her head in his chest.
"Are you all right? Did you lose her?"
"No, she - she's stable, for now. But-" she broke free of the embrace and looked Jackson in the eye. "It's just not fair." She turned around and started pacing the room.
"I mean, she lost her parents when she was four, and now they're taking away her big sister who was only 21. And even though I don't have the best relationship with my sisters, I could never imagine losing one of them or even all of them. She's 15! 15 Jackson!"
"Hey, hey, hey, it's okay." He reached for her shoulders and ran his hand up and down her right arm. "She's here now and we can help her."
"How are you going to help her Jackson? She lost the last member of her family."
He sighed "I know. But she needs to recover from her injuries and she needs someone to talk to. And at least we can help her with that. We'll talk to her, that's all we can do anyway."
"You've changed." smiled April.
"Oh yeah, have I?"
"Mmm."
"Come on, let's go home. It's been a long day." Jackson put an arm around April and together they made their way to the attendings lounge to change their clothes.

I just realised while writing that I can't really estimate how long my chapters will be.
That's why I won't say how long or short they will be, because then it probably won't be true anyway.
