Ciarra had only taken a small nap. I mean, after a long hard day at work, who doesn't like a small nap at least. Ciarra woke up. She yawned. She had fallen asleep with her "uniform" on. Although her boots were on the floor before her bed. Her sword was in the sword case. Her goggles were on the lovely dark wood night stand next to her bed. She sat up her knees up to her chest. There was a knock on the double doors. It was was one of the manors maids. "Yes?" Ciarra called out. The door opened. "Lady Mariam asks if you will attend the dinner party tonight at 8:30. Most of the Countries higher ranks will be there." Ciarra frowned. She got out of the bed. " And I know exactly why. She's hoping to marry me away. It's not 1800's any more. The damn traditions are dying out. My mother and father do not realize that. I'm not marrying any one I just met at a party. Tell my mother I will not be tending to this nonsense of a mess. I believe in finding love myself. My brother was able to. So why shouldn't I?" She frowned slightly. She had completely forgotten about the event. How her mother and father wanted her to marry, some one high. And how they let Mases go follow his heart. The maid bowed and left closing the doors behind her. Ciarra sighed heavily. She was just so annoyed. Beings it was only 8:00, she decided to go out. She wanted to go into town. She went over to a closet. She stripped out of her uniform, and looked through her clothes. "I really shouldn't go out looking like a high class lady. Some thug might try and do something." She laughed a bit. "I can handle any old thug. They can't stand a chance. She dressed in a plum colored strapless dress. She put a black cover over her shoulders. It was Autumn now, and still chilly out. She slid a pair of black glossy heels on to her feet. She took her hair out of the usual ponytail, and brushed it out till it was nice and smooth. She put a golden necklace on her neck with a blue topaz, hanging from it. It was shaped as a tear drop. One of her favorite necklaces out of the many she had. She was wearing her hair down tonight. Ciarra swiped red gloss over her lips. She smiled in the mirror. She would not need a weapon of any sort. She could use her combat moves, or she could use alchemy. Yup! She was an alchemist. The first for a few generations. The last known alchemist was her great great grandfather. Since then, no body bothered. Ciarra did. She was a Freezing Alchemist. She could not leave out of the main door of the manor. For her mother would stop her and question her. "I'm 21 now, and I don't need their help any more. I will do things on my own. I pretty much have any way." She frowned. She went over to her window, opening them. The alchemy sign she used much like Isaac another Freezing Alchemist, was tattooed on her upper right shoulder. It was still raining out. She touched the wet ivy crawling up by her window, and it turned into slope. She grinned. She looked behind her, to make sure no one was behind her. " Looks like mum and Pa is gonna have to cancel tonight's events." I won't be here." She shook her head. She stepped out onto the window ledge. Closed the window. And slide down the slope on her feet. She landed on the grass. Thus, the ice shattered. "They won't even remember there was freaking ivy growing up here any way." She grinned. She left into the night. She could drive yes, but town was right down the road. So, it didn't matter. Once into town, she examined some window shops, adding to her mental list of what she would get next week. The steers were calm. There were people walking, there were some posed up against walls. There was never really much trouble in town. Most people got along. She walked up and saw in a window shop, a beautiful necklace much like hers. It was silver with a purple gem in it. "That would of looked great with my dress instead of the one I am wearing now." She said looking at her own. That's when things stirred up a bit. A man with came towards her. "You like that necklace don't you?" I want everything in the world myself." (This was Greed, although Ciarra has not come across him herself.)
"What is such a lovely lady like you doing out in town on a night like this alone?" He asked hands in his pockets. He examined her head to toe a few times. Ciarra could not see his eyes. They were hidden behind those really tacky sunglasses. "Why does it matter to you?" Ciarra said rolling her eyes. "You are an upperclass lady. Ya know you shouldn't be out in town alone on nights like this. Anything could happen." He said grinning really huge. Ciarra stepped back a few steps. "Stay away you creep." Ciarra said in a warning tone. "I just wanna take a better look at you, babe." He said grinning. "You won't be doing that." Back away from her." Said a familiar voice. It was Roy. He was in his car. He wore nice evening clothes. "She's my woman. So stay away." He said in a warning tone. The eerie man frowned. "Ahh you just had to pull up." He looked at Ciarra. Roy said. " Get in Ciarra." He said it in a sharp tone of voice. Ciarra opened the passenger door and got in. She shut the car door once she was seated. Roy drove off with them. He looked unpleased. "You better be lucky I pulled up when I did. He said with his eyes on the road. "You were looking for trouble weren't you?" Ciarra frowned. "No I wasn't." And haven't you forgotten, I'm an alchemist!" I can handle myself just fine!" She rolled her eyes. "You men can be weird." Woman can be capable of protecting theirselves."
Roy sighed. "I know woman are capable of protecting theirselves."
"Then why..." Ciarra started.
Roy said " Enough of the subject. Where do you wanna eat?" He seemed very serious. His eyes were fixed in the road no expression on his face what so ever. "I don't really care." And don't cut me off!" I hate when people do that to me!"
"Well, it happens." Roy said sternly. "You don't need to be out thinking you can cause trouble, and get attention." You need to remember, you come from a upper class family. Didn't your parents teach you that?" Ciarra's eyes narrowed. "Don't speak about my parents." I'm 21 now, and don't need them over my shoulder. They are trying to arrange a marriage for me, sir! I don't want that old custom crap." I wanna marry who ever I want!" She said angrily. Roy brought the car to a stop. "Parents are parents. They care and love you Ciarra. I know you may not like their ways so much, but at least you had a mom and dad your whole life." I didn't. He said lowly. "My dads sister raised me." We are going to eat at a nice diner." He said changing subject quickly, before Ciarra had the chance to say a thing. They got out of the car and they went into this very fine diner. There was classic music playing in the background. The tables were set with a nice cream colored table cloth and a candle glowing softly. "I've never been here before..." Ciarra said with amusement. She liked the little diner already. Not many people were in at the time, because it was 10 pm. They were seated by a corner. Ciarra sat across from him, instead of beside him. Sadly, their dinner was not as exciting as Ciara hoped. More on the quiet side. They barely spoke. Ciarra kept staring at the candle. It smelled much like a heavenly vanilla. She liked the sent of it. Roy ordered a steak and some pasta on the side. Ciarra didn't feel to hungry. Her stomach felt twisted a bit. "I guess I ruined the night...." She thought to herself. She got pasta salad. She twirled the fork around a lot. Her mind lost through many thoughts. Roy ate. He noticed she wasn't eating much. "Why aren't you eating?" I figured you would be hungry." He said taking a bite. Ciarra didn't look him in the eye. "I had a heavy meal earlier today...and...I just haven't managed to feel hungry sense." She was lying. He could tell. The waiter came with the bill. Ciarra grabbed it from Roy's hands. It was a total of $60.00. "Excuse me waiter, I'll be paying for this. Bill it to the name of Hughes please." The waiter was shocked. "You are the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hughes? Ciarra nodded. "Yes I am." The waiter nodded and did so. After that they left the diner. They got into his car. "You do realize, I was supposed to pay for dinner, and not you..." He said a bit coldly Ciarra rolled her eyes. "At least you are saving $60. She said looking at the back of her hand. She realized, most upper class woman would be married by her age. But her left ring finger was empty. Not a ring on sight.
"My mother and father are so stupid to try and arrange me a marriage." She thought to herself.
"Shit, I forgot something back at the office." Roy snapped under his breath. Ciarra looked up. "Then go get it." It doesn't bother me if tonight wasn't the best." She said not making eye contact. He frowned baring his teeth. He didn't say a word and they drove back to the building. "I'll sit out here."
"No, you are coming in."
He demanded coldly.
Ciarra frowned, gritting her teeth.
The building still had its lights on.
Ciarra knew that of course. All you could hear was the dripping of rain and her heels on the tile floors. They came to the office and he unlocked the door. Ciarra felt along the wall. Finding the light switch, and turning the lights on.
Roy closed the door behind them, silently without he knowing.
"Why wasn't tonight so good for you?" I thought, you would love eating dinner at that diner." He said hand in his pocket as usual. Ciarra had her arms crossed over her chest. A much usual pose for the young girl.
"I did...It's just...it didn't feel like a real date...we barely talked and I..." She said not wanting to finish her sentence.
"And, you what?" He asked looking at her. He couldn't see her eyes. Her bangs hid them.
"I wanted a normal date...not a date suited for a high class woman. I mean it was great...but, I want a date out in a park like a picnic. But, you can't be seen like that. And nether can I." Roy laughed.
"You want a date like that?" Ciarra looked up.
"One day yes." She said.
"I can see why both you and your brother don't enjoy being upperclass. I wasn't born into that. Both my mom and dad passed away at an early age. We were just normal. My aunt took me and raised me." She is all I've got." I'll have a family someday."
Ciarra laughed lightly. "Other high class ladies, would of been married by my age." A ring should be sitting on my ring finger. But it's empty. I could care less." I believe upper class of not, you shouldn't marry right away. Fly free for a bit. You know?" She said grinning. "I joined the military like Mases and you, to also get away from that shit." It's not old fashioned days any more." She sighed. Roy understood her.
"I get what you are saying." He came closer to her and held her in his arms. Ciarra smiled. She couldn't help but to hug him back.
"Roy, I know that you will need more then just my brothers help to rise up through the ranks, and become the countries new Führur." So, I offer my support, and if any money is needed ever, I'll profit whatever." Mum and dad, would really like to know, that their are still some young men left in the world who care not for his self but for those surrounding him." She smiled softly. Roy never expected to hear a woman say that. But, she was really Mases little sister after all. She may be stubborn, short tempered. But, she too had a soft kind caring side to her as well.
"Thank you so much."
That means the world to me." He said softly. His usual cold eyes, seemed soften.
Ciarra broke the moment by yawning. "It's 12:00. And I'm tired she frowned. "And I don't wanna go home." "You can stay at my place for the night. " he smiled.
"That I would like."
They headed out of the office hand in hand. ❤️(More soon!)
