Darth Plagueis was an extremely wealthy business man known as Hego Damask. He owned his family's business and was a part of the Banking Clan.

His Sith life was entirely focused on figuring out how to manipulate midi-chlorians to keep an organic being alive. He experimented with all sorts of beings until he figured out the secret. He could then keep anyone he desired alive for as long as he wanted or bring the dead back to life. It was an accomplishment that Sith had been working towards for centuries.

Plagueis took on an apprentice named Sidious, who is reality was a legislator from Naboo. The two met when Damask was having a meeting with House Palpatine (Palpatine's father). His son was studying at a prestigious academy in Naboo. Damask and young Palpatine formed close friendship. House Palpatine was a very demanding father, and did not like that his son was spending time with a member of the Banking Clan, so Palpatine was to be transferred to a school off-world.

Young Palpatine lost it on the way to the new school and killed all the people on the ship, including his whole family. Plagueis seized this opportunity and took Palpatine as his apprentice. Palpatine was henceforth known as Darth Sidious.

The two trained together for years until it was time for the Grand Plan to be set into place. Sidious contacted the Trade Federation and convinced them to blockade Naboo. This caused chaos in the Senate, and Palpatine was nominated for the Chancellorship. The night before the election, Palpatine was practicing his speech with Plagueis.

It was dead at night, and the guards had been sent home so the two could discuss Sith matters without revealing their true identities as Sith Lords. After hours of practice, Plagueis told Palpatine to go home. Plagueis went to bed, and Palpatine started to leave until it hit him that it was the perfect night to put the Rule of Two into play. He decided to kill Plagueis and become the master. Palpatine killed Plagueis by using Sith lighting and choking him.
