I took a deep breath and walked up on stage, my bandmates following behind me. The crowd looked a lot bigger from up here... We started setting up, my hands fumbling with the mic stand.

"Get on with it," I heard an exclamation from the crowd and I shot my head up in panic, frantically looking for where the voice came from. Were we really taking that long?? I finally found where the voice came from, and our eyes met. I had planned to give the boy a dirty look, but... I ended up stumbling back instead. We stared at each other for a full minute before I could knock myself out of it. I could see color. Now, you might be asking "Ok?? Can't you always see color?" But here, you can't. You can't see color until you make eye contact with your soulmate.

My breathing was heavy, and I could see his chest heaving up and down too. Will shook my shoulder behind me.

Oh, I should probably tell you about the band. Will Sweeny was vocals, with me. He was also my best friend. Alex Lewis was on drums, Brad Nevinson on bass guitar, along with Roy Bennett. We're called White Eskimo, because we needed a name for battle of the bands last minute, and it just popped into my head.

Will shook my shoulder again. "Mate, are you alright? You look like you've just seen a ghost." I put on a smile, even though in reality, my heart was beating like a drum, and I was kind of surprised it hadn't popped out of my ribcage yet. I gave Alex the cue to start up the beat, and we began singing Summer of '69 by Bryan Adams.

Throughout the song, I kept looking over to that boy... the song seemed to last forever. I just wanted to go find him and... what? What do you do when you meet your soulmate?

Finally, Alex slowed the beat and the song came to an end. I yelled out a "thank you" to the crowd and ran off stage. The boys ran after me, confused and questioning looks written on their faces.

"Harry, what happened to you back there," Brad asked, a worried look evident.

"Guys... I can see color." Their jaws dropped in unison.

"What?! Oh my god, that's awesome! Who did you make eye contact with?? Is she cute??" My eyes went wide in fear. I hadn't thought about the fact that my soulmate was a guy... I didn't even know if I liked guys! And my SOULMATE is one?? Well... now that I thought about it, I had never really liked anyone anyway... not a girl or a guy. I didn't have a problem with being gay... I just... it's a shock, you know? I didn't know how my friends would react though... I'm sure they'll be supportive! Right? I'll just have to take a chance, they'll meet him eventually anyway.

"About that... it... wasn't a girl. It was a guy. And, to be honest... he's really cute. He has short, straight hair, and I think its brown?? At least that's how my mum always describes brown. And he had these piercing eyes that I think were blue. He's about my height, maybe a bit shorter. But it's cute, it works for him. He looks like he's about 17. Sorry, I'm rambling... but yeah, he's pretty cute."

None of them had even moved. Brad was the first to grin, walking closer to me and pulling me into a bone crushing hug. Then Will came up behind me, then Alex and Roy. It was a big group hug, me smushed in the middle, trying to breath. At least I knew they supported me.

Guys," I said, my voice constricted.
"Guys, please let go, I can barely
breath."

"Oh... right," Alex said with an awkward laugh, and they all let go. They looked at me with expectant eyes.

"What?" Brad rolled his eyes playfully.

"Go find your man, that's what!" And they all burst out laughing. My cheeks were flaming in embarrassment.
