...
You took your time turning the fragile first page.
You were delighted to find what you held in your hands was in fact the manuscript of the first Night of the Living Dummy book. You actually thought you squealed a little.
You had loved pretty much all the Goosebumps books equally, sure. But the Night of the Living Dummy series always had a special place in your heart. And, a little guiltily you may admit, you had a little nerd crush on the illustrated dummy from the book cover when you were little.
You were now more excited than before to relive the fun memories of this story, but before you could even get a couple pages in, a burst of wind somehow shook open your window, blowing the book shut.
"Hey!" You tsked, being shaken out of your reading mood. Although... it was quite fitting. You sighed and stuck a scrap in between where you had been in the pages, and got up to close the window. Pausing there, you shuddered a bit. It wasn't exactly a cold night, but something about the powerful wind set you off. Trying not to think much of it you finally shut the window, this time latching it closed.
However, when you turned to get back to the couch you saw a shadow out of the corner of your eye. You yelped, whipping your head to get a better look. Nothing there. There was definitely something there a second ago. You turned behind you. Nothing, not even outside the window. You figured your imagination was getting the best of you... but when you turned back again you almost jumped out of your skin when you saw something sitting on the couch next to your book. You clamored back, almost falling to the floor.
Before you had a moment to grab something and smash whatever was sitting on your sofa in the face, you suddenly realized it looked lifeless. Or... you thought it did?
Moving closer, you saw... no way.
No way.
There was a ventriloquist dummy sitting on your sofa. And not just any dummy... it appeared that Slappy himself, from the very manuscript you were about to read, had manifested in your living room. This was not possible. And yet...
Inching closer to the eerie doll you recalled reports of strange things going on in the premises of where other RL Stine manuscripts were kept. Maybe this was one of those times?
You were terrified from the sudden appearance, but still somehow a little excited. Slappy... like, the Slappy... was in your house. No. This was too good to be true (although you knew that was a weird way to think about it).
"Haha, ok Michael. Very cool of you. How the hell did you get this doll?" You half-hoped this was some prank or something. "Michael, come on-" but as you were standing in front of the doll you noticed something in its pocket.
All notions of a prank went out the window. You knew what that thing was, you had read this before. Then again, there was still a small chance that it wasn't...
You carefully pulled the little slip from Slappy's coat. You read it out in your head. One more time to be sure.
...Shit.
Those were the words. The magic words, if you could call them that, to potentially bring Slappy here to life. The first thought fell out of your mouth before you could think it,
"Well obviously I'm not falling for that."
You had read all of the Goosebumps books, especially those, and you knew that no good could come of reading these words out loud. But as you processed things, second thoughts (not as smart as the first thought) began to form.
Could you handle a dummy? Yeah! Sure.
Could you handle an immortal dummy with indefinite powers? Mmmaybe not so much. But! You were great at bargaining. You were confident that if anyone could strike a deal, that involved not dying, with the famous Slappy, it was probably you. However, you knew from what you read that he was unpredictable. Sometimes revenge driven, sometimes entirely inspired by just causing trouble, you weren't sure what to expect from doing this.
But you had never really had an adventure until now. Dead or not, at least you'll have lived. You sighed, and despite your intuition, decided to do something stupid just for the heck of it."Karru, Marri, Odonna Loma, Molonu, Karrano."
You held your breath a bit, and for a moment you thought nothing would happen. This was all pretty far fetched to begin with, wasn't it? Maybe it was all a prank after all-
You heard a crack outside, and jumped. Suddenly conflicted with keeping an eye on Slappy and seeing what happened, you chose to run back to the window. You sighed when you looked down through the glass. Just an old branch falling from the wind. It's alright.
When you turned around though, Slappy was no longer where he was before. This was becoming a rollercoaster of feelings as once again you were shocked, looking around to see where he could be. You went to kneel and look next to the sofa in case he just fell off, but just then you heard something shift behind you. Turning suddenly, you once again came eye to eye with Slappy. This time, however, there was an eerie life in his eyes. Ok. This was for real. You were freaking out. You grabbed the first thing you could which was unfortunately a pillow. Slowly, you took some steps toward him, wielding your 'weapon'. Just as your guard went down a tad, he blinked.
"Surprise."
You shouted in fear and hit him straight in the head with your throw pillow, and he clunked to the floor. Groaning, he got up to his feet.
"Well that's some way to welcome your guest." He said coarsely.
"Oh my God." You said.
"Close, but no." He scoffed, "I'm Slappy, and it would do you good to call me by my name."
"I know who you are." You said, barely at a whisper.
"Oh, do you? Well then we're half way through introductions. The real question, I think is-" he was right in front of you in a blink, and he poked your side, "who are you?"

Who's the master again? (slappy x fem reader)
FanfictionEven with all the shenanigans he's been through, Slappy never thought he'd meet someone... like this. Originally I named this fic after one of my favorite Chicago songs to be funny but then I realized it wouldn't make any sense for the story so here...
