He Weiwen traveled from the prime minister's manor to the Hu residence, and since most of the QIndu officials live in the same area, it was a very short ride. When he arrived, no one dared stop him, let alone ask him what he was doing there.
Both Hu Qingcheng and his father were over at the prime minister's mansion today. The only one in charge was the old maid, but by the time she arrived at Qingruo's courtyard where He Weiwen was, he had already ushered away all the servants and went into her room.
The Shu maidservant that Qingruo's father found was currently teaching her etiquette.
Qingruo was sitting in a chair with one of her legs propped up. She held a pan of grapes in her hand and threw them one by one into the air and caught them in her mouth.
Two servants stood on either side of her with heavy wooden sticks in their hands, both red with anger.
"Get up and practice your sitting posture." The Shu maid's face was green.
Qingruo wiggled her toes on top of the embroidered lotuses of her shoes, "Aren't I sitting quite well already?" She threatened them lazily, "You guys better hold onto your sticks well; if I get beaten today, my father and brother won't be too happy ~"
The two servants actually tightened the sticks in their hands; it seemed that they were rather accustomed to her barbaric ways. But then again, if she could sneak into the general's house, then she had to at least have some skill.
He Weiwen stood at the door for a while and then finally raised his fist and knocked on the door.
"I've bothered you," he said politely. The two servants were surprised at the man's sudden appearance. Someone that was able to come in was definitely not a simple person, not to mention his accompanying lofty demeanor.
Qingruo glanced at him and then bit down on a grape. Her tone was bitter, "What do you want?"
He Weiwen raised his foot and stepped over the threshold into the room. His expression was polite but his actions were unstoppable. He took a few steps forward, and the two servants subconsciously took a step back.
"I have something to say to Miss Hu, can you two leave for a while?" He was literally in a lady's bedroom; what was he planning to ask her?
The two servants hesitated; after all, she was to marry the emperor. If Qingruo's reputation was ruined, the Hu family would never let them down.
Qingruo rolled her eyes, "Do you guys dare defy General He's order?" Hearing this, the servants came to their senses and bowed before retreating.
Qingruo asked, "Why did you come?" He Weiwen did not answer and sat in the chair next to her, after rearranging his robe. Afterward, he reached over and plucked a grape from her plate.
The smell of wine covered him, and Qingruo's withheld the plate from him disgustedly, "I asked you why you're here. Are you deaf?"
He Weiwen ate the grapes, but he found that there were two grape seeds inside. Turning his head to look around, He Weiwen found that she already had a small pile on the table in front of her. He bent over and spit the seeds out.
Qing Ruo looked at him, her face wrinkling even more in disgust.
He Weiwen straightened up and rapped his fingers on the table, "Put the grapes back." Looking at her holding the plate closed in her arms, he gave a slight glance at her, seemingly indifferent.
Qing looked at him hesitantly, obviously not wanting to give him any.
He Weiwen coughed gently, "About you marrying-" His tone raised towards the end of his sentence.
He didn't have to say anymore before the stupid person placed the pan of grapes down in front of him. She immediately tried to put on her most pleasing smile, but it ended up appearing extremely stiff.
He Weiwen drank a lot of wine and just now drank some tea. Now he felt that eating the cool grapes was very refreshing, and he ate two-thirds of the plate before stopping, leaving only a pile of seeds behind.
Qingruo made an impatient noise. He glanced softly at her, and she became quiet. She put her feet down and was sat properly, tapping her feet furiously.
He Weiwen spit out the last grape seed and looked at her with concern, "Do you need to go to the bathroom?"
She paused with a thunderous expression on her face, and then rolled her eyes before asking him as gently as possible, "So I don't need to marry him?"
Only a plate of grapes was needed to reverse her future marriage?
He Weiwen smiled, stood up and pulled his wrinkled clothes, and then said kindly, "Why are you so stupid? I just said the word marrying; I wasn't talking about your marriage. Don't think too much into it"
Qingruo froze in place as He Weiwen stepped forward. "Don't be anxious, it's only a month and a half away. Time will go by really quickly."
"He Weiwen! You son of a b*tch!"
