mariano's proposal

i woke up and got to my chores today as usual but more people are starting to recognise me which means more work i suppose. great strain my powers more lets goo. i approached casita for my last chore as someone called me to help place a few vegetables and fruits on a strangely high shelf. while i was doing this i heard some music and singing. it was a faint

"is it normal to hear singing from them?" i asked the man i was helping
"oh yes it is!"
more people were joining, talking about a dead fish and his gut and more singing
"dont talk about bruno!"
oh who the fuck is bruno now. i just decided to not get into it and just walk home.

"hey y/n!"
"hola mami, wheres pa?"
"oh he got a job so he's doing that right now"
"oh okay"
"we are going to go the madrigal's house soon by the way"
"what for?"
"congratulate them for mariano proposing to isabella"
"okay"

we walk to the madrigals house, barely looking presentable as were just congratulating them.
"hey y/n! can you help get this banner up?"
this random lady asked me
"of course!" i say just barely lifting the banner up enough. im quite exhausted from straining my powers but its okay, at least i'm helping.

we wait for the door to open. everyone congratulates the madrigals only to see mariano and his mother storming out. abuela shouting for them to come back, isabella yelling hateful things to mirabel and dolores shouting about some prophecies about the magic dying and mirabel destroying la casita. everyone left and i just stood there confused when camilo tapped on my shoulder.
"hola bonita, watcha doin here?"
"oh cami, apparently we were supposed to be congratulating mariano and isabella but now we arent i suppose"
"yeah the proposal didnt go to well, mirabel was acting really weird and we found out it was because she broke into tío bruno's tower"
"who is bruno?" i asked, remembering they sung about him.
"he's my uncle that would see into the future and make bad things happen" he replied ominously
"well if it's the future, technically it's not his fault is it, cause you cant control fate"
"i suppose your right" he chuckled softly. we were just zoning out on eachother until we were interrupted.
"CAMILO, Y/N CAN YOU HELP FIND MIRABEL" abuela alma called out.
"OKAY ABUELA" camilo said "lets go" he sighed
"MIRABELLL!" i called out
"mirabel! mirab-" camilo sneezed then turned into.. a baby?? "🐿MIIIRAABELLL🐿" he called out in a high pitched voice. i laughed at him and went to look upstairs while he searched downstairs. i went and saw mirabel and an old man?
"uh hello there, mirabel, everyone's looking for you! also who's this?" i whisper-shouted to her
"this is my tío bruno y/n, please dont tell anyone about this!"
"dont worry your secret is safe with me, but your mama is worried about you. it would be worth going down and just letting her know your fine"
"okay y/n" then  tío bruno went behind a painting saying
"knock, knock, knock, knock on wood" then leaving.
odd. mirabel and i went downstairs to her mama and her pa
"ay mirabel! there you are, gracias y/n" julieta said to me
"no problem señora julieta!"
"would you like to stay the night? it's getting very late, i'll let your mother know!"
"oh okay gracias señora julieta"
"you and mirabel can have a sleepover"
"can i join!!!" camilo butted in
"yes you can camilo, i'll ask luisa to move two matresses into your room since its bigger"
"okay! thank you tía julieta!" he said enthusiastically
"lets goo!!" camilo pulled both mirabel and i over to his room when señora julieta told him she needs to talk to mirabel first, so it was just him and i.

"hey y/n, are you okay?"
im not gonna lie that question caught me hella of guard.
"huh, oh me? yeah i'm fine"
"you dont look fine"
i just sighed "im just exhausted thats all, i'm not used to using my powers this much but i'll adapt sooner or later, no point in whining over it"
"abuela pushes you, huh"
i looked at him confused
"if you have a gift of some sort, even if you arent part of the family, abuela tends to push people with gifts to the edge. poor isabella is stuck being perfect for her and mirabel is always trying ti be good enough for her, even without a gift" he said softly
"the point is just dont push yourself too much, okay?"
i smiled at him
"okay"
mirabel walked in
"AYY SLEEPOVER LETS GOO" she got our energy back up and we started with a pillow fight. both mirabel and i targeted camilo, and i used my power to throw multiple pillows at him in one go
"HEY NOT FAIR YOURE USING YOUR GIFT"
mirabel and i just giggle as the pillow fight went on and on. we finally finished and went onto our matresses
"y/n why are you using that mattress when you can be in my bed instead" he winked
"come into the mattress instead" i also winked playfully
"okay" he said , rolling into the mattress and landing on top of me
"OWW" i said "that hurt" i pouted
"AY I'M S-SO SORRY HERMOSA I DIDNT MEAN TO UH I MEANT TO LAND ON BESIDE AH BESIDE YOU" he rambled beside me while mirabel just laughed
"i knew when i came into this room i'd be third wheeling all night!" she laughed at us blushing furiously
"its okay cami" i laughed, he just leaned onto my side and we talked about some family tea with mirabel. even some juicy stuff about people around the town! by that time camilo was already asleep on my side, same with mirabel, asleep on her mattress. i thought maybe i should move him up to his bed so nothing looks wrong, but when i tried he held on to me,
"no i wanna stay down here" he said in a raspy whisper
"okay then i'll move onto your bed" i said teasing him, knowing he wanted to stay and cuddle with me.
"noooo stay please" holding onto me tighter
"alright i'll stay" he held onto me tight and i got comfortable in his grip, slowly drifting off to sleep.
