I swirled my vodka around in the glass. The smell and the colour of the liquid made me feel sick. From down the hall, I could hear footsteps coming towards my office. Then Sevika burst in with a group of men behind her. These were a few workers at the factory.

"What happened to knocking?" I muttered

"We got the girl boss and it's someone you're familiar with too," Sevika smirked.

"Oh lovely," I said rolling my eyes. "It's someone I know." I glared at the man behind her. "You three. Out of my office. Now. Get back to work." At once the men pushed themselves out the door. Idiots.

"I told you not to bring those people to my office. They bring in the dirt." Sevika nodded. I looked at her hands. She was holding a big bag. "The girls in there?" I nodded notably.

Sevika shook the bag. "Yep. In the bag."

I stood up. "Oh for goodness sake, have some humanity. Get her out of the bag." Sevika untied the bag and poured it, allowing a body to fall to the floor. I stared at the girl who lay crumpled on the floor. I recognized her immediately. "Is that.."

Sevika interrupted me. "Yes sir. It's the girl who stabbed you. What was it, 10 years ago now?" I nodded curtly.

"I didn't think a girl at her age would have survived but I've been proved wrong," I murmured. I knelt down in front of the girl, examining her.

Her hair was a pale white, tied back with silver hoops running through it. She had her hair shaved on the sides leaving a mohawk type thing that also had hoops. She had piercings all over her face. 3 above her eyebrow, many on her ears, and a nose piercing which had a chain attached from the nose to one of the ear piercings.  That's when I noticed her ears. They were pointed.

"She isn't human?" I mused. I looked down at her lips. It has been split during a fight. But I noticed small fangs, protruding. The last time I saw her, she didn't have these... Strange. Her clothes were old. She had a nice body by the looks of it but she looked starved. Her ribs were poking out slightly.

"What did you knock her out with?" I had noticed she was asleep. It looked like she was barely breathing or moving in any way.

Sevika shrugged. " That perfume Singed made which knocks people out. Pretty handy. But shame it doesn't do much damage," she sneered.

"It's not handy," I snapped. "Now I can't talk to her."

Sevika looked down at the girl. "So do you want me to kill her or..."

I turned, clearly irritated. "No, I don't want her dead. I'll decide what to do with her later. Go and address her injuries. I would focus on that hand." The piece of wood lodged in her hand was uncomfortable to look at. "Then I want you to restrain her in one of the guest bedrooms. Then when she wakes up, I can talk to her without the three of her killing me or you."

Sevika nodded, picking up the girl, and left the room. I turned and sat on my chair.

"I told you not to hurt her too much. I told you to deliver her to me unharmed." Jinxed fell onto y desk with a thump.

"Who said I hurt her?" I looked up at Jinx pointing at me. "Well she was in my way," Muttered Jinx, giving up as I glared at her. I held my eye pointer up to her. She grabbed it and knelt on the arm of my chair.

"Anyway, why do you care if some girl gets hurt. Didn't she stab you or something?"

I nodded. "She-." Jinx grabbed my head roughly.

"Don't move." Without warning she pressed the button, the point hitting my eye, relating shimmer. I recoiled in pain, the liquid running down my face. No matter how many times I do it,  I could never get used to the pain. I straightened myself up, running my hands through my hair. I looked at Jinx who now had her knees up to her chest.

"She did hurt me, many years ago. And she got away. No one has done that before. At least not for that long. This is why I believe she will be useful to me, one way or another." I paused for a second, looking up to the roof. "She killed my people for years without a trace."

"But she got caught," argued Jinx.

"Doesn't everyone eventually," I replied quietly.

"Not me," chirped Jinx, hopping off my desk.

"I suppose not," I chuckled.

"Well, I'm off to annoy someone downstairs. Probably Sevika. See ya'," she called out, bouncing out of my office. I turned my chair, facing the window, looking out to the many lights, lighting the undercity.

"Peculiar girl."
