Baby Steps

Emmy's POV
"You wanna try this-" she gestured to both of us, "again?" a hopeful glint in her eyes.

"Yea... but let's start off with dinner and hold off on the labels for now ok?" he added making sure he wasn't giving me any false hope. "So you wanna go for dinner with me?" I couldn't help but grin at the question. I didn't mind taking baby steps.

"Yea... that would be great." he smiled and replied, "Alright I'll be at your door at 5:30".

He went back to his apartment to get ready. I was a little worried about how Lin would react to us bailing on the plan, but I couldn't help myself. He gave me a second chance and I'm not messing it up this time.

I walked to my room and picked a pair of dark blue corduroys and white crop top. I took out my light blue sneakers, I figured it would get cold so I took out a jacket that matched my shoes. Now that my outfit is ready I'm gonna take a shower so i don't smell like chinese take out.

Once I was done doing that I went to my room to change into my clothes. After I was done I walked out and saw Pippa standing with Lin in the kitchen. Lin looked up at me confused as to why I was dressed up.

"Why do you look like you're going out on a date?" Pippa asked. I looked at her sneakily, to which she smirked and then squealed.

"With who?" she started jumping with excitement, "Well... with Daveed" I looked at Lin hoping he wouldn't get mad. At first he was happy because he low-key shipped us, but after a good second he started to realise that he was going to be having dinner with Pips all alone.

"Uhm... are you forgetting something?" he raised his eyebrows, looking at me with pleading eyes. I thought about postponing the date till tomorrow but I really have been waiting for this second chance and I cant wait any longer.

"I don't think so." I gave him a sympathetic look, he looked at his lap thinking about how the night would go. Pippa looked confused, she was about to say something but I cut her off saying "Anyways Pippa I'll tell you how it went later." I smiled and walked out the apartment.

Lin was going to be mad later but Daveed and I are finally working things out, some things just can't be pushed aside. 
Daveed would pick me up from my apartment but I couldn't stay in that place, it would be too awkward for me. So, I knocked on his door, he opened the door with only pants on.

"Pip and Lin are in that apartment, I couldn't stay there. Mind if I stay here till we leave?" he chuckled a bit and let me in. "You know you don't need my permission to do that" he said, I nodded slyly, he shook his head laughing a bit before going back to his room to finish getting ready.

Lin's pov
This was going to be another dinner where I had to listen to how happy Pip was and here I always am, sad and lonely. I wish I could just move on and live my life again without this constant sting in my heart. But as much as I wish I never met her... I don't know what I would do without her.

Not seeing her gorgeous face in the morning for breakfast, or watching her laugh at one of my horrible jokes, her hazel eyes shining when she talks about her family. I don't remember how life was without her anymore, and that scares me a bit.

Maybe I should back out before this dinner is finalised. "So what are we gonna have for dinner?" I open my mouth to tell her I have other plans.

"I'm not sure. What do you want to have?" Dammit Lin, you had one job.

"Hmmm, I'm feeling pizza from the local" I grinned and agreed immediately, they sold the best pizza down there.

"Great, I'll call Steve over!" she exclaimed excited for the night.

Fuck my life.
