chapter eleven-- Derek

      That was my phone in the other room. I hurried off and opened my room and grabbed my phone.
      "I'm here." And I heard a *tap tap tap*
I quietly sprint over to the window and tried to open it as silently as possible after disabling the security system.
      "I thought..."
      "Yeah I know, but I thought you might need an extra hand. Want me to... I dont know... come in the front door so your father knows I'm here so we don't have to sneak?"
      I pause, thinking of my words carefully. "No, cause I don't want him to think anything is wrong, and also I have to ask a day in advance before anyone can come over, remember?"
      Gadge rolled his eyes "God sometimes I forget how your dad is... alright. Im still upset though."
      "Please let me finish my sentence from earlier. It's just, that's how my DAD sees him. As just a... you know... but I don't. Not anymore. And not with you." I say, coming closer to him. "Please, I just. Don't know how to act right yet. Please give me time I promise I'm trying."
      Gadges eyes softened and he held out his arms for an embrace. I went into it, tears forming in my eyes. Even just an evening and morning without talking to him and I a mess. God what a wreck.
      "Alright D. Just, try not to use that word around me please? With my mom... you know..."
      "Yeah. I'm sorry Gadge. I really didn't mean anything by it and I forgot a seccond. I'll do my best to be sure it dosent happen again."
      Gadge's mom and my dad are a fit pairing if they ever met, just saying.
      "Ok now where's Ethan?"
      "In bed getting some rest. He's good to sleep finally, I made sure with my research, and that boy is tired as fuck."
      "Oh alright. Do you want me to leave then...?"
      "No." I answered immediately "I... kinda need someone... please."
      He looked at me with concern in his eyes, and something else I couldn't quite make out what it was. "Whats wrong?" I ask.
      "I just... you hurt me today dude. I need something from you. And if it's too much then... I'm sorry it just can't work. I can't keep doing this. Tip toeing around your dad like this." My heart sank. What is he gonna ask for? I have no idea. I'm not excited to find out but I know at this point I'll do almost anything to keep Gadge. He's the love of my life.
      "Ok... what is it?"
      "We have to tell your dad we're gay. Don't worry I'll be there to protect you and you and I will be there to protect Ethan. We need to get you two out of here. I'll pay for it. Don't worry about the money but if it really bothers you that much you can always pay me back. But I just can't keep doing this with you. Seeing you get hurt time and time again by your dad. Seeing Ethan get hurt and beaten so badly he dosent pay attention to how much drugs he's had? I can't keep putting myself through it dude."
      "Oh... I..." I trail off. What am I supposed to do? Allifer's words stuck in my head like glue "Fucking take a lamp post to that motherfucker and stick it between his wheels and run. Don't look back. Because if he pushes his own children away like this it's his own damn fault. He can get a live in nurse if he needs to. It's his own damn fault."

      "Ok."
