It came with great joy that the Madrigal family had announced that the youngest child of the family was to receive his miracle on the anniversary of every family member that had received theirs before. As soon as this was announced to the whole town, everybody became filled with glee - everybody disbanded their current activities in order to assort all sorts of confections to bring to the party, all the while the Madrigal's themselves decorated their casa.
Come nightfall, the stars spread all across the sky so perfectly that it added to the attraction of the Madrigal household. People had gathered into the casa in time before the main event. There was, however, one person in particular that Isabela was looking for to attend the occasion. Before she indulged in conversations with folks, Isabela perched herself on the roof of the casa observing all the peoples that walked towards her.
To her disappointment, she could not find him with her prying eyes. When she heard her name get called, Isabela let out a sigh of contempt before she made her way safely back down into the foyer. She was found by her Abuela who had forced her attention onto Mariano Guzmán; her suitor and future husband.
She barely got to know him for no more than one date prior to her meeting Javier and yet she was already getting a bad feeling about things. But Isabela puckered up and forced herself to endure this treatment so long as her Abuela didn't have a stroke arguing over her not wanting to be Señorita perfecta Isabela.
Until it was time for the youngest Madrigal member to take up his miracle, everybody stood in the foyer with an aisle formed for the little boy, Antonio to walk along up the stairs to where his Abuela stood, watching him. From the roof of the casa, Javier watched the event inconspicuously - with the aid of the statues at his disposal.
What came as a shock to everybody was seeing the one family member who failed to receive her miracle. Now maturing into a young woman, Mirabel Madrigal accompanied her cousin up to their grandmother. Everybody watched in awe as he touched the candle that granted everyone their gift before they would touch the doorknob of their room that would unlock their powers.
And so, the door glowed brightly. Everyone broke into cheer as the boy found himself being attracted by a toucan that seemed to understand and communicate with the curly-haired boy. Javier smiled at the sight as the boy opened his door which revealed a jungle inside. Everyone looked in awe at the vast space inside before everyone filed inside to hold the party. Javier's eyes stalked the girl in the purple dress as she was followed by Mariano, her future husband.
For a girl he barely knew more than just a few days, Javier was quite jealous of seeing Isabela around her date. Even without his eyesight, he could see just what kind of a person Mariano was: too stupid to see that the marriage was something she could not go along with, and he was still willing to go along with it. Javier growled at the sight when her heard one of the statues mumble something to him. He watched them with curiosity with over what was being said.
"You're not wrong, amigo. I just don't see why Señorita Madrigal is being so selfish about not letting Isabela be her true self. Not this... persona everyone perceives her to be." Javier said to the statues that manifested into gargoyles.
They all rattled again, speaking in a way that only Javier could understand them.
"No, I'm not jealous."
Again, they bounced and chattered on the tiles on the roof.
"Okay maybe I may have a crush on her. B-But what's that got to prove? Señorita Alma want that stupid, fat hunk to marry Isabela."
A third time they chattered through physical movement.
"What can I possibly do?! I'm blind! I can barely make my way across a room without you guys. It's this damn curse - my eternal punishment. If I could take it back, I would without a doubt."
