Flicker

Flicker 

Inklings of hope wrap around my heart. 
Pins of despair hit the bulls-eye like darts. 

I can't forget you, though hard I've tried. 
I can't forgive you, though hard you've cried. 

Nobody tastes the same as you did on my tongue. 
Nobody feels the same as your shirt I have wrung. 

Sorrow fills me to the very brim. 
Every moment I spend without you is unbearably grim. 

A flicker of a flame dies slowly in my eyes. 
The stars go supernova in our Amarillo skies.

Fear not a future without me, for it be more fruitful than this. 
A flicker with a flame to feed it will provide eternal bliss.
