--After several decades--

It was the 21st century this time and Hisardoux and Eva's friendship had grown stronger and even though they had to be apart from each other at times, it only made their friendship stronger.

 Hisardoux worked at a cafe where he lived and lounged as well.

 Eva would join him from time to time but she would always be at the library reading herself or reading for the children that came there as she got a decent amount from doing that as a job and she enjoyed it as well. 

Eva was now in a changed outfit that fit the people around. She wore an off-shoulder purple black dress with black boots and a lavender belt. Her magick came from the V bracelets she wore on both hands that were strapped to her middle finger.

And every night when they met Hisardoux would ask her about her day first and would listen to all of it patiently, She noticed small things like these and it would make her feel warmer at heart.
"Hey love, how was today?" He made space for her to sit with him on the couch as she came into the shop.

 
"It was great!" She chirped she went on about how her day went and how the kids loved the new story she picked out for them this time was about some mythical creature.

 
"l noticed this time how a child's wild imagination is restricted in this kind of education system that we have now. Creativity is as extinct as the great Auk" Hisardoux chuckled. 

"Surely you can't miss how old people call self-expression these days," he said in a mocking voice "theSe punk rockers emO unfriendly kiDs!" She laughed "Yeah as if we're not like so much older than them" He agreed as he tiredly sunk in the couch slouching.

"Hey douxie, I know this is random but, have you ever had a...liking for someone?" Douxie answered without averting his gaze from the TV.

"yeah...But I've only liked people from afar. I never really had the chance to approach, you?" he quickly looked at her.
"Ahh," She hesitated He noticed and turned his waist towards her "did something happen while we were apart?"

She looked at him for a split second "yes but no, I had someone I liked. He kind of reminded me of someone and... seemed to like me back too, even. and every time he would ask me about 'us' i just could never tell him anything. He was a musician, So I would attend his concerts, and every time he would sing he would look right at me and God knows how he managed to spot me from such a big crowd but...I was always afraid"

Douxie stuffed chocolate in his mouth that was sitting beside him on the table on a plate. "does he play the guitar" He asked uninterested She noticed but decided to ignore him.
"He did. but the point is. That douxie, I've made so many friends and I had to leave them at one point because I couldn't tell them things. I just don't like keeping secrets." She said her tone getting sadder. Hisardoux wrapped an arm around her.

"I feel the same way Eva, but at least we've got each other, right?" she smiled at him
"Yeah" They both blushed at each other.
"By the way I know I never said this before but I just love what you did to your hair," She said Douxie had a proud look on his face
"I know right, the blue colour suited so much better on me I loved your purple" She giggled as he noticed her purple ombre ends.

"Can I ask you something, Eva?"

 
"yeah" she began to take a sip of her water

"who did the guy resemble, that you met?" His tone became serious.

She slightly choked on her water. She covered her mouth as she gulped her water down.

'"nevermind that."

"you had another lover? Eva since when did we start keeping secrets from each other?" He sat up.

 
"It doesn't matter anymore I have no one right now. And I especially don't feel lonely" She looked at him with her voice hoarse. She got up and went upstairs to bed. "I need to go to bed now"

Hisardoux bit his lip as he sat with his elbows on his knees.

I don't need decades of friendship to tell that was literally my best friend lying
