It wasn't who they thought it was. And how did Ms. Hezara and Liana not hear Looper's footsteps? It was loud enough for the girls to find the lurking figure.
The door opened..slightly...but it wasn't Ms. Hezara or Liana. It was their father in the form of a ghost. Was he alive?
"Father?" Sia asked in a whispered voice. "What are you doing here?"
"I sent Looper to help you escape," Father said softly. "He will guide you outside of this house into the lurking darkness. Looper will find you safety so you can have a normal life. And yes, you can change your names. I know how much it means to you both. Go. We don't have much time. And I made Looper's footsteps loud to you, but silent as a mouse to my wife and daughter."
They all obeyed the ghost, and the ghost faded away. Looper made a plan of how to escape the house, and where to go in the darkness.
"Our house is underground?" Sia said in disbelief.
Looper gave a nod. "Yes, Sianna. And I'm sorry you didn't know anything about this before. Ms. Hezara would kill you if you knew."
Sia seemed to understand, but Brook wasn't buying Looper's words. She didn't trust him after what he did to her sister.
"This is pathetic," Brook called out, shaking her head.
Looper gave a heavy sigh. "There is a place called Darkside and Lightside. We are currently on the Darkside, which is underground. When escaping from this house, we are still on Darkside. We need to get to Lightside before the Darkside beasts and hunters catch us. It is very dangerous to be out."
Brook seemed to buy it after Looper's explanation. He told the girls that there was no more he could say, and they needed to act fast. They had only an hour before Liana and Ms. Hezara would wake up, and they had to escape from the nightmares.
