Go out with me

It was breakfast time. I saw her talking to a beautiful woman and they were sharing the table. I wondered if there was something more than a friendship.

I decided to strike up a conversation with them to see if I could maybe find out what was going on.

"Good morning, Bette and Louise. How's breakfast?" I smiled, interrupting their laughs.

"It's great. I met Louise in the common area earlier, she's telling me about her boyfriend." The way Bette said it, I relaxed immediately. I liked that she let me know Louise was just a friend so quickly. It seemed she really cared what I thought.

"And Bette was telling me about her company. Did you know she owns a marketing company?" Louise said as she sipped on her coffee.

I smiled and raised an eyebrow at Bette. "I didn't, actually. You said you were told to go on vacation and I just assumed you had a boss."

She shook her head. "No, that was just my employees. They're very nice and concerned people. They can overreact sometimes." She rolled her eyes with a smile.

"They seem great. Well, girls, I don't want to interrupt your breakfast so I'll leave you to it." I smiled as I heard both of them saying I wasn't interrupting, I was very welcome and etc.

Then I left the breakfast area and went by the pool to read a book. I needed to stop keeping tabs on Bette and focus on something else. I grabbed my book and sat by the pool, appreciating how calm it was. Even though we had a pool, most guests didn't care for it. When your hostel is by the beach, they tend to prefer going to the beach instead.

"There you are," I heard someone say a couple of hours later. As I had been in charge all morning, now it was Alex's turn, so I was simply relaxing by the pool while reading my book.

I turned around and saw Bette. "Hey Bette, were you looking for me?" I said as I watched her drop dead gorgeous body in a bikini. Sunny San Diego looked great on her. Then again, what didn't? I'm sure she looked just as good in NYC too.

"I was. In fact, Claire told me you were off duty but I just wanted to talk." She said, sitting beside me.

I felt my heart skip a beat. She wanted to talk? When I was off duty? Crossing a line there, wasn't she?!

"Ok... I'm all ears." I smiled politely.

"I wanted to know what your favorite restaurants are." Bette said.

I felt confused. "Oh, I thought Bruno had given you the list, but I can get another-" I stood up as I was on my way to get it. Bette held my arm.

"I thought you were off duty." She smiled seductively. My. Fucking. God.

"Still, I can get it. Just let me-"

"Tina, I asked you your favorite restaurants, not what your hostel recommends. I want to know what you like." She said confidently.

It took me a moment. I realized she was about to ask me out and I couldn't go. I definitely couldn't. I didn't want my sister to see that I was dating a client. That would only make me a hypocrite for judging her so much.

"And why do you want to know that?"

"Because I'd like to ask you out. You know, typically, I would plan the date and just send you the details. But you see, as I'm not from here, I don't wanna take you to some shitty place. So I trust your judgment. What do you recommend?" She was absolutely sure I would say yes to that.

AN: what do you think Tina will say to that? Any guesses? 👀
